lupron trigger

Post by jayne9586 »

I am using lupron for trigger because hcg does not work for me. I do not have ohss and did not take any drugs this cycle apart from the lupron trigger. This is my first time with lupron for trigger and wondered when should I start estrace? My doctor said to wait till the day after iui but in the past lupron has taken my e2 numbers down so I wonder whether other women have started it earlier.
Thanks

When you start estrace is up to your doctor, but we find that sooner is better. I hope you are also on a progesterone product. Or two.

After a Lupron trigger, you will ovulate, but the corpus luteum (the spent follicle that normally remains active, producing progesterone) dies off. This is called luteolysis. No corpus luteum, no progesterone production.

It dies off because there will be no LH from the pituitary to sustain it. Lupron induces an LH surge, then suppresses LH production for days.

Thank you so much. That is what I thought. My doctor ususally agrees to what I ask, but I will not get to talk to him for a while. I will be starting progesterone once release has been confirmed.

Good.

After Lupron trigger, the progesterone supplements need to be sustained until around the 10th week of pregnancy. After that, the placenta will make its own progesterone.

Lupron

Post by jrar847 »

Hi
I was given two shots of Lupron two weeks apart about a month ago. Than my RE started me on twice daily shots of Follistim. It turns out the Lupron over suppressed me. I wasn't responding to the follistim. My IVF cycle was canceled on Monday. Now I'm on estrogen for the next ten days. Good luck with the Lupron.
