Antagon Cycle without BCPs

Post by lynniecat »

Hi All,

I am new here and I am hopefully starting my 3rd round of IVF this week. This cycle will not use lupron or BCPs but instead will will start on day 2 of my next AF. Has anyone tried this type of cycle? They said I risk a dominant follicle, but that it might give me better luck.

I am 42 and a slow responder..

That's the second most common protocol. It works just as well as the very common long Lupron protocol you were (probably) on before, but with fewer injections.

It's common to change protocols after a failure. Another protocol they might try is the Lupron flare, where they start the Lupron at the beginning of stimulation to take advantage of the initial flare of FSH when the Lupron hits your pituitary.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.

lynniecat,

I am also on my 3rd fresh IVF cycle. I am also not doing lupron or BCP this time around. I am day 4 of my AF and started 225 of gonal today. I will do injections of ganorelix (MS) to stop OV. once follies get to a certain size around 15 mm I think they said.

I have never done this kind of cycle before and a little worried because it's not the norm, but maybe the change will work. What is your protocol????? Would be nice to chat with someone using same protocol.

hi brenda and lynnie cat.. i did a similar protocal during my 2nd try at IVF this past march- it was the flare using 450ui of gonal F daily..started day 4 of AF. i'm a low responder, but i got pregnant. my first beta was 430 (which is good), the RE said 'you're not just pregnant, you're very pregnant'

anyways, i had a miscarriage at 12 weeks, likely a typical MC; not related to any fertility issues, as they think i can carry a pregnancy, just have trouble getting there. although it was heartbreaking, it has given me hope to know i can get pregnant, and i wouldn't have traded the experience for anything, despite the pain in the end. i only got 2 big follies from this last cycle, and 3 small ones, 2 fertilized, and i had a single pregnancy seen on U/S at 7 weeks with a heartbeat. so THERE IS HOPE for all of us low responders.

my first cycle was cancelled early due to no response. i am starting another cycle late september. since i got pregnant, i'm giving it another month to see if i can conceive naturally (may sound CRAZY :D but i believe in miracles, and you just never know). this time i'll start day 3 and hope between that and possibly my body's fertility being boosted from previous BFP...things will work out this time.

i find all of this very hard at times. a friend of mine is pregnant right now and i just can't stand it..and i'm often torn between feeling guilty for this and then just knowing this response is very human for me right now.

good luck to both of you with your stims and BELIEVE IN MIRACLES...karen

3 IVF's & 1 FET: 1 cancellation, 1 m/c @ 12 wks, 1 chemical, 1 miracle boy & miracle 'natural' PG right now while waiting to cycle (WTF?)

I actually did the flare protocol for my first two rounds. The first round worked with 5 follicles (all 5 fertilized and 3 were grade 1, 2 were grade 3) and 2 implanted embies, but I miscarried both.

We did the same protocol for the 2nd round with bad results. 4 follicles, 2 fertlized but looked bad. We transfered anyway but I got a BFN.

So for the 3rd round we are trying this other approach. On day 2 I will start the stim drugs if all look good. I hope this week. I will be doing 150 gonal f in am and 300 gonal f in pm with 150 of menopur. I will start the antagon when the follies are 12 to 14 mm.

I hope this round is more like round 1 with healthy embies!

lynniecat, karen, brenda3, and ghost,

I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your protocols and info. I was a poor responder, and am curious as to what my doctor may suggest next. It's nice to have a little bit of an understanding of what to expect at my next consultation.
