Post by stephanienj »

Hi all,

Also are you guys on pelvic disability? I was trying to research the do and dont's of pelvic disability but don't see much about it online. Should hvae asked the dr. more q's bu didn't. Feeling alot of back pain and abdominal pressure...anyone else?

Hello there,
I think we have talked on one of the other boards. I am 24 weeks preg with twin girls. I do not work, although I have spent the summer chasing around my 4 and 6 year old and trying to keep them busy.
I feel like I am getting bigger by the day...
I dont know much about pelvic disability but it seems that beyond 24 weeks most dr's recommend at least half time with work. It must be so hard to HAVE to be someplace. I am just so tired sometimes...
Have you had any issues with preterm labor? Does your Dr check your cervix at all?
I am very interested to hear what others experiences are in all of this!
Hope to talk soon!
Sara
Ps Yes to both abdominal pain and back pain. Getting up in the morning is he..ll!

Hey ladies-

Stephanie - I have not heard of pelvic disability but maybe your ob can put you on modified hours to work?? with FMLA or something like that??

I know i am going to fill out the paperwork this week for FMLA and i already spoke with my OB and she is going to allow me to work from home at my convenience.

My work is OK with it as long as the OB instruct that in the FMLA paper work, but i am also going to talk to my OB when she wants me to start taking EASY with work - if she prefers that to happen around 24 weeks or later..

Sara- I haven't talked with you forever?! how are you?? wow you are 24 weeks that's cool -

I so agree with you about getting bigger or at least feeling bigger day by day and tiredness!

It's getting really hard for me too to work, especially when you are so tired and exhausted.

on top of it i get those BH's like crazy!

I do have a question though do I need to be concern about anything well I had my u/s yesterday and both babies are healthy and weighs a pound each - is that too low? the OB said they are fine and the most important thing is they are growing and what not.

but I was just curious - i have always been a tiny person - and i see other twin pregnant moms and they are way bigger then me :( and that's concering to me.

what do you guys think??

Hi ladies!

sameera: I think my twins at 22 weeks were only a pound as well so I think you are right on track. I never got big with my twins either. People said I looked like I was just carrying one baby. I have a long torso though.

As for the working at 20 weeks...my doctor made me quit work because one of my babies was REALLY low into the pelvis and causing problems. But I know a few ladies that worked up until the end. I think as long as there are no problems and no pressure down there you are fine. However, listen to your body! If it hurts to do a lot STAY OFF YOUR FEET or you will end up like me with babies at 30 weeks!

Never heard of pelvic disability though. Interesting. Just listen to your body, go to your appts, and everything will work out.

Thanks sugabeanzs - you are sucha life saver!!! I was gonna ask you when you quit working and it seems like you did around 20 weeks that's good though at least you know what your body was saying..

I am getting really tired/exhausted thats why i am starting to concern about work - i may just work from home for next few weeks see if that helps me.

Thanks again for the tip :)

Hi Ladies~!
Sameera, I am soo excited to hear you are having a boy and a girl!!! Names?! So perfect! We havent talked in awhile, I have been so lazy about posting but I always read all the Dec/Jan gals news. My babies were the same at 22 weeks, just about a lb each. I am def showing and feel big, but I dont think I am any bigger than I was with my single babies.
Suga, Are you hanging in there? I have been following your story since you were on bedrest. I am so happy you had a successful delivery and the babies are doing so well for 30 weeks gestation. Are the nurses nice at the NICU? When my daughter had RSV (resp virus) at 6 weeks, I loved some of the nurses and some were just awful...I am sure you are counting down these 2 weeks to get them home. Try to rest if you can!
ndgo82, keep us posted on twins! I love to live it with everyone, sooo exciting! How many did you transfer and how do your numbers look? I was crusing the boards like crazy during that 2 week wait period. It is such torture to wait for that u/s!!
Stephjim, how are you?!
More later ladies. I love the double trouble board. I have learned sooo much!!!

I got my twins weights at 20 weeks and they were only 9oz and 11 oz, and I was told this is normal, so I think your pound is pretty good. All I got from the pelvic disability thing was no exercise and no sex. They start checking my uterus on Friday, which will 22 weeks for me.

Sara - oh wow, so nice to hear from you - I was wondering where you disappeared. I know how it is not being able to post and what not..

no, I have not thought about names - any names that I like my dh doesn't like em and any names he picks I don't like LOL

Well, thank you for you information about the babies being 1lb around 22 weeks - that makes me feel so relief - I just didn't know if I was doing enough for them!!

How's everything with you?

Stephanie- Thanks for the info about pelvic disability - my OB in the beginning did put me on pevlic rest which is same as disability for few days till my bleeding stopped.

I didn't know it was called pelvic disability - how are you feeling?

Hello every one,
I'm just jumping inn to say hello, and to comment on stephanienj,

I also am preg with twins. I wrote in to double trouble about a month ago about a cercloge at 19 weeks, thats doing very well. no contracions no problems, I was scared to death because it was so many different suggestions from the docs and the hosp.

I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT BACK PAIN THOUGH!

I have been on bed rest for 6 weeks. No sex for about 4 months, due to a short cervix. I'v been in the hosp for 2 weeks now . I am 23weeks 4 days with a ways to go. I am hanging in there though. The hosp. set me up with free full body messages once a week. (that really helps) I also have about 10 pillows or more, 5 under my knees one body pillow in the front of belly, one for support of my back and one for my head. I mean alot!!

Just try and take it easy, if you don't have to work, by all means stay
home. My problem was I wanted to stay busy. Of course every pregnancy is different, but I started out with so much pressure in my pelvic and thought it was natural for twins, witch lead to a cercloge at 19 weeks leaving my jobs at 18 weeks ahd hopitalized since. Not saying that will happen,to anyone but me, but we've come so far to get here and some time we lose sight.

Congrats to everyone, and again thank God for this forum, I would be really crazy.

a mothers love: Ah, I did not know you were in the hospital! You poor thing! For the rest of the pregnancy I imagine. I WISH they would have left me in the hospital then my water may not have broken and they would have realized how short I was getting. Oh well, no look backs I suppose! But wow, you hang in there! I hope your back gets better eventually! (When they are born lol).

Congrats on the babies. Are they home with you yet?
Thats my goal 30 weeks, My doc says they should be healthy enough to come home with me.
The hosp. is not sooo bad. Well then again It really sucks, not knowing how long my stitch will last. I have different nurses every day every shift change, then it's the needles, the IV. the cleaning lady the other 2 docs that check on you every morning at 5:30 am. waking me up..
Besides all that I'm doing pretty good. I keep alot of company, and phone calls on a reg. My doc seems to think I'm taking bed rest pretty good.
My focus is the babies, I see my self tired, happy and excited to have them. I guess thats what keeping me sain besides my many dreams of busting out of here, with my husband waiting for me in our get away car   :D

LoL! When I was in the hospital on bed rest I hated when they came in early and woke me up. Usually I had just fallen asleep! So I learned to sleep more from 11AM to 1PM lol. THe girls are still in the hospital. I am ready for them to come home. One has some lung issues (and I had the steroids) and the other just needs to bottle feed. So who knows when they will get to come home. Shoot for 32 weeks cause that helps the lungs SO much.
