WHEN DID YOU START TO SHOW?

Post by Neffi211 »

Hey everyone.....I am 16.5 weeks, and although I know I have more of a belly than I did, I feel like I should be showing more than I am. I can still SQUEEZE into my jeans. When did everyone start showing.....I mean not the fat belly, the pregnant one! Of course, like everyone else here, I'm always worried something could be wrong.

Neffi- Don't worry, I started telling everyone at work I was pregnant around 14 wks b/c I was sure I would be popping out at anytime and they would know, but I was barely showing at 8 months. I am a bigger girl to start with and the baby measured small the whole pregnancy. She was born just over six pounds. I kept asking the dr why I wasn't showing much and she said as long as I was gaining weight and cm's on my belly, everything was fine. So try not to worry too much.

I am right there with you Neffi. Well, not exactly as I am 1 week behind. I started getting the bloated belly real early so I thought I was going to show real early, but not the case now. I did post on another board asking this same question and the most common response I got was 17-18 weeks and most said they woke up and there it was out of the blue.
I do get concerned as well, always thinking something may be wrong, but then I sit back and think when my mom was pregnant with all three of her girls each time she never showed until after 6 months. She was a very small women, 5'1 & 100lbs. When she was 6 months pregnant with my sister she weighed 96lbs. I am built very similar to my mom (although not near as small)so I am thinking maybe I wont pop until later, but I am SO hoping that I will wake up in the next few weeks with that extreme joy to see the pop that occured over night.

I have to register in 2 weeks, very early because in laws in North Dakota have to drive hours to get to Babies R Us and they have to buy for SIL in the next 3-4 weeks so they asked that I register early so they can buy for both at the same time to save a long trip. I am going to be SO embarrassed if I register and not even be showing!!! How dumb am I going to feel?!?!?!?!

I also had that "after big dinner" belly for a long time before I really 'popped out'. I couldn't wait either... little did I know just HOW big (and uncomfortable) I'd get in the end. So don't worry, you will pop eventually. For now, enjoy your ability to walk, sit, and lie down comfortably :)

I'm a medium sized person (5'5'') and I could still squeeze into my low-rise jeans until the week before I started my third trimester. I got lots of comments from people about how small I looked and how they were surprised I wasn't showing. I think they meant well but of course it made me worry. My dr always said I was fine.

I guess I had enough of a pregnant tummy that people assumed I was pregnant by about 24-25 weeks. Before that I just looked like I had a fat tummy! I also had that disappearing tummy that someone else mentioned where I would have a tummy in the evening and much less in the morning for a long time.

Now, at 35 weeks I am showing about as much as anyone else. DH and I are shocked by how much I've grown! Dr. says I'm right on the nose in terms of measurement.

I think everyone's just different. My mom said her pregnancy was like mine in that she didn't show until later but I was born normal size (7lbs 14oz).

I too was in the same boat. I'm 6' tall so I assumed my height camoflouged the pregnancy belly. Up until two weeks ago, people were still popping their heads in my manager's office to ask if I was pregnant! So, be thankful you still get to wear your regular clothes and that you're still functioning normally. I don't think there's anything to worry about.

It seems my belly has gotten really big the last two weeks (although I can still wear a number of pairs of my regular dress pants to work). There is no mistaking whether I'm pregnant any more!! :)

I produced a "full belly" after I would eat somewhere around week 18. But by week 20 we got our amniocentesis results and we started telling the family, then my stomach grew bigger. If I knew it was going to get bigger with us sharing our little secret, I would have kept my mouth shut longer.

I was the same way. Don't worry it will come. I am due on Friday and you can tell that I am pregnant just not a huge huge belly. Beleive me, when the aches and pains fom the weight of that baby start to settle in, you're gonna wish you could go back to a few days of small belly.

My doc seems to say I am doing fine and baby is fine so I don't worry about what people say. My cleaning lady had a baby in April and the week before she was due she was still wearing her regular clothes. I thought for sure something was wrong with that pregnancy although I would have never mentioned that to her being pregnant myself.

Well to make a long story short, her baby was 7lbs 8 oz. Size on the belly doesn't really matter if doc is saying everything is okay.

Don't worry yourself with this.
