When did you get your period back?

Post by Mellie_1233 »

Hello!

I am planning to try for a second child as soon as possible after having the one I am currently carrying. Of course, this depends on getting my cycle started again. I had a couple of questions for you ladies who have already been through childbirth.

1) How long after childbirth was it before you got your first period?

2) If you breastfed, how long after you stopped breastfeeding did it take to get your period?'

Thanks! :)

hi mellie,

i have only just stoppeed breastfeeding (9 1/2 Months). i still havent had a period but that doesn't mean you can't get pregnant!!!!!!

we had a big shock as i not long ago found out that i'm Pregnant!!! we couldn't believe it as we had to have 4 cycle of IVF to get our gorgeous son and now it just happened naturally!

most of my friends that did breast feed said their periods returned after about 3 - 4 week of stopping.

trying for number 2 also depends on the type of birth you have, Ie if you end up having a section then it is recomended that you wait a few months for your scar to heal before trying to fall pregnant again.

hope this helps.

good luck with the birth and trying for No 2

Mellie--I had one period about 9 months after my dd was born during which I was still nursing. I am still nursing her (she's 12 months) and haven't had one since. Don't know what is up with that! I'm hoping to start weaning her so I'm sure dear old auntie flow will show up again soon!

My AF showed up exactly after 6m of my DD's birthday while I was still nursing. I was also actively trying for the second one after that, got few positives, but none lasted longer than 5 wks - naturally lost due to poor egg quality or insufficient progesterone (my guess, never found out why). Anyway, in the end, we did one more FET with 5 embryos transfered and I am now pg with our second - 21 wks along.

Good luck!
