Introduction and Hello!

Post by sillysqrrl »

Hello everyone!

I am 32, F, and challenged in the way of fertility. I have PCOS, currently weight 312lbs (just lost 23lbs! WOOHOO!) and suffer from amenorrhea (due to having too much body fat on myself since i began menstruating).

The doc's have said I will never have a regular period or ovulate on my own even if I lose all the weight.

3 years ago we tried to have a baby. They started me on clomid, it did not make me ovulate, so we went to Gonal F which did make me ovulate, but I just didn't get pregnant!

After about a year trying it just became too much, we had some marital issues, but are good now, healed and ready to try again.

I am excited and nervous because honestly, who has the money to keep trying and trying? I have my doc appointment on Monday to start the whole process over again.

I look forward to speaking with everyone!

Thanks.

Hi Lei-

Congrats on losing some weight - keep up the good work! As for this infertility rollercoaster it can certainly take a toll on your body, mind, marriage... Two pieces of advice I can give (since we've been ttc for 4 years, done 5 mths Clomid and 3 mths Gonal-F, now we're moving onto IVF) are:
(a) try to move slow... make decisions with your dh and respect each other's views. Not every decision you make will be the one YOU would want. It has to be a joint venture.
(b) take time off from treatment to regroup. Like I said we've been ttc 4 years and I've taken atleast three couple-month long breaks. It's just so emotionally, physically, and financially draining that once in a while I need a break. I treat myself to plenty of parties, wine, massage, vacation, etc. Then I'm rejuvenated to start again!

Good luck and keep the boards posted on your next step. :)
