Starting 1st cycle of IVF & hopefully will be successful

Post by Lady_J »

Hi evryone, I am 31 years old. Been with OH for 15 years and married 11. We have 10 yr old daughter, Tubal ectopic pregnancy in 2000, and have been TTC since then. I have PCOS, one tube slight damage... I am on Metformin treatment since 2007.

I am starting my IVFtreatment this month... OCT with this cycle. My AF started on 10/06 and I started Birth Control on Saturday 10/11. I will start Lupron injections on 10/26 so according to nurse, I will start stimulation at next cycle in Nov. then I can start stimulation injections.

I am so nervous yet so excited. I think I can handle Lupron injections myself.... butt my biggest fear of it all will be the stimulations injections that will go on my butt. My OH said he will be doing the shots for me, but I just hope he can handle it and not pass out when he has to stick that long needle in my behind. :?

Can anyone give me advice as to how to make these injections less painful... or more comfortable? Has anyone been able to do those shots on themselves? I figure I may be able to but then again I dont want to take that chance.

Anyone else on the same stage of IVF as me? I would appreciate any info or advise or support.

Hi,

first of,I want to wish you all the luck!

I`m going for my ivf December but had iui with meds few years ago and was lucky enough to have a nurse neighbor who helpped me,I did a few shots to myself but most of them she did(this cycle didnt work for us),yeah,I know what you mean, hubby can`t even look at needles let alone stick in my behind!!

Anyways, this time not that lucky,I`m in a new neighborhood and my old friend is way to far,but I heard that you can use vaginal progesterone and that they are as effective, you might want to look into it,I`m gonna ask my doc.

Good luck and keep us update.

Natasha.

Lady J, Most stim medications are given subcutaneous just like Lupron so you can do those if your stomach and arms and legs. I usually put ice at the site for like 2 minutes and do it myself. It works great! Just numbs it just right. Im in the same boat as you. i started BCP and lupron this month and will start stim soon with retrival and trasnfer in nov! Im really excited!

I agree, ice it down. I never iced down the subcutaneous shots as they weren't a problem for me, but i DID ice down (for 10 min or so) the intramuscular ones (progesterone in oil). i thought they would be horrible but i didn't even feel them. much easier than i thought. good luck!
