Are my follicles the right size?

Post by a.september »

Hi,
This is my first time posting, but I can't seem to find any answers on the internet so I thought I would ask the "experts"!!

I am on my first cycle of gonal-f pen - I did 150 iu for 5 days, and today (day 7) I have five follicles - 13, 15, 15, 18, and 22. My RE wants me to do the ovidrel tonight and IUI on Friday - but I am worried b/d the 13 seems too small and the 22 too large.

We had done 3 IUI cycles with clomid, but none were successful. One cycle I had three follicles, the other two, two follicles.

Background:
I'm 30, had one high FSH of 16 back in March 2008 but every month since then, FSH has been under 10, and this month was 5.4. Also, cycles are short (18-24 days), though last month was a 30 day cycle. Only difference was that I started an ounce of wheatgrass every day for the past month!

It looks perfect. You have to go by the lead follie and you trigger at a different size than you do with Clomid. At your age you have many good eggs. You will have 4 follies that should go this time. That is a lot at your age given the quality of your eggs. I bet you get a bfp out of that lot.

I agree with Kelly. The lead may be too big, but you'll have 4...the 13 will likely catch up by then. I only had 3 mature follies & I'm pregnant at 43.
It looks really good for you.

Sounds like you're right on track... my clinic won't even tell me the sizes unless they're over 12. And they ideally like them to be around 18 for IUI. The ladies who posted above are right- the 22 may not be worthy but the 13 will catch up. Good luck - fingers crossed for you.
