adoption

Post by sunseeker »

Hi,
After a lot of thought and soul searching we have decided not to try another donor cycle, I don't think I can handle another trip on that roller coaster ride again. We always said we would try 3 times and we have done that now, unfortunately without success.
I realise this may not be the right place ask for information/help on adoption but I thought some of you may have looked into adoption at one time or another and could help us with some information.
I just seem to come up against brick walls with each avenue I have looked at and am very confused as to where to start.
Our case is a little more complicated because we are british citizens living in Spain so Britain wont consider us (unless we can prove we are habitually resident??) It's not that we want a British child it just seemed the easiest place to start, we would love to bring a child into our lives would be happy regardless of nationality but just don't know where to start.
Any help or advice would really be appreciate.
Many thanks
A xx

hi sunseeker, we were also considering adoption and didn't know where to begin. My gyn had always said we should look into it as an option, so we decided to begin by asking her for advice. She gave us a list of agencies for us to contact and even put us in touch with other adoptive parents to talk to about their experience. We contacted the agencies and went to a few informational seminars to get an idea how it all works. All the agencies dealt with the adoption of children from other countries, not from Germany, where we live.
Good luck to you and to Aunty Pebbles as well. I'm sure you'll be welcoming children into your homes very soon. All the best. xx summer
