HELP beta rising too quickly -every 37.3 hrs. molarPG?

Post by karenvancouverisland »

hi all. i'm finally PG and now i'm worried my beta is TOO HIGH.. yikes never thought i'd have this problem

my first beta at 4wks, 3days, =341
second beta at 5wks, 3days, =7741

this means it doubled every 1.55 days, or 37.3 hours.. i keep reading that 'rapidly rising betas' can indicate molar pregnancy- but no one is saying 'how rapid' this is.

do i look like i'm in trouble? i need some warning if i am.. the clinic said they thought the number was 'very good' - but frankly i don't trust them and find them careless at times with what they say.

any input would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a chance of multiples? That could explain it all.

hi, thanks for your replies, i hope it's twins, had 2 transferred, BUT from all my research, twin doubling times are not higher than singletons.... its only the initial beta # that will really indicate twins, as after that doubling times should be the same regardless of how many you carry..

so, i'm glad you had your beta #'s and dates there silverangels, as i threw them into the betabase.info doubling-time calculator, and yours were 53.6 hrs. and 50.8 hours. so mine are still higher than the norm and yours (at 37.3 hrs.).

hopefully it's not a big deal and that it IS twins, i'm just worried (like usual).

if anyone out there has examples of high doubling times, please share..even if it turned out problematic.

thanks a ton, karen

Think of it this way, instead of fearing a molar pregnancy, think of your little bean as really strong and really healthy and that's why your numbers are doing what they are. High beta's and fast doubleing is better than low and slow beta's. I'm sure you'll be just fine. Keep us posted and I'll say a prayer for you tonight.

I had a very high doubling rate at first, less than thirty hours. I started with triplets and now am PG with twins. Anyway , your post reminds me of how I felt regarding high betas with fast doubling rates. I was also fearful of molar, or somethng else wrong. Through all my research I found molars are very rare, and even rarer in IVF. Your have a much higher chance of a healthy pregnancy than a molar pregnacy :)

Hope you feel better and Congrats....you could have more than one :)

No problem,
I completely understand. You finally get pregnant and you feel like it's too good to be true. I don't think it is though for you-your numbers are beautiful!! Can't wait to see if you have a mulitple pregnancy!

Karen,
With numbers like that, I'd be REALLY surprised if it wasn't a multiple pregnancy. Good luck and enjoy your pregnancy!
