male factor

Post by branda »

Thanks u all for replying back. My DH had one of his testicle removed due to tumor about 6 years ago which affected the sperm production of the remaining testicle. His sperm count is less than 10,000 with very poor motility. We tried 1st IVF with ICIS in May, 2008 with no success. I had producted 18eggs, 15 matured, 8 fertilized, 4made it to day 3, and being unsure if they will implant well, my Dr. suggested transfering all 4 embroyes with no success. We found another Dr. who specialized in fertility only and has his own private clinic. This new Dr. is suggesting using donor sperm on our next try in Jan. 2009, but my DH is not accepting it. He said that he strongly believes that God will give us our own child without using donor sperm. I, too , strongly believe that too, but knowing the cost of each IVF cycle is nerve racking. Our new Dr. looked at my previous record with the old Dr. and found out that my eggs were poor quality from the start. But, Dh were able to fertilized 8 of them.
We are just hoping and believing in God on our next attempt. Once again, thank u all for replying.

We have male factor as well. Ours was worst as my husband has a disorder that developed in the womb that dictates very little sperm production (Under 1 million) So no natural babies for us ever.
As of right now after 3 attempts and a miscarriage we age 6 months along with twin boys.
Don;t give up hope. It's not over until it's over. I know how scary the cost thing can be as i paid out of pocket as well. But if we could do it the so can you. have faith and good luck.

I also produced a lot of eggs with an egg quality issue. My issue was that they didn't divide evenly, some small and some big cells, and also there was a lot of fragmentation. One the most recent try, which produced the twins I am carrying, they gave me a growth hormone for 4 days and tried to lower my hormone levels. This produces fewer eggs, but better quality. Maybe with that and the ICIS it could work for you. Good luck in whatever you decide.

hi brenda

i think the fact that your dh's sperm has managed to fertilised your eggs shows that your dh's sperm can do their thing!!! therefore i agree with your decision not to go ahead with donor sperm.

best of luck!!!
