Scarlet,
I don't have any great advice but I do know that some clinics operate a scheme whereby you can have half price IVF/ICSI if you share your eggs. I suppose that this would only work if you are someone who is lucky enough to be able to produce lots of eggs during an IVF cycle and this is by no means guaranteed.

Hopefully, someone else on this site may know more.

You also need to find out exactly what your local NHS can offer, I expect that you have already done this and that they fall short!!

Good Luck, Rach X

Hi Scarlet

I was turned down at first for NHS treatment so I got onto my doctor to write to my PCT explaining my case, I also telephone the PCT on a weekly basis just to let them know I would not give up. Sometimes you can get the NHS to at least pay for the drugs.

Best of luck

Vicki B X
July Ann

There is a PCT for each catchment area you live in. Mine is South East Hertfordshire Primary Care Trust (PCT). The PCT is a government body that is responsible for handing out monies every year to Hospitals, hospices, GPs and all other medical organisations. The PCT ultimately holds the money a hospital will use to pay for NHS IVF, because our doctor did not think I would get funding and I used an IVF clinic out of my catchment area they could not apply to my PCT for my funding, I went directly to the PCT to fight my case.

I hope the above is some use to you.

Vicki B X
hI,
I am doing my first IVF cycle at the moment and decided to egg share not only for financial reasons but also because I consider it a good thing to do. I was expecting to still pay half of the £3000 fee, but all we are paying is £180 for the initial consultion and a £400 admin fee.
Fingers crossed this cycle works for me, but if not I will keep egg sharing as I know who many people out there need eggs.

helen
