How long do you ladies recommend for rest after IVF?

Post by Jubert »

 Hi ladies,

I am new to this site. I am 40 and this is my second IVF cycle ... (one IUI previous) I am using SIRM in Long Island and NYC. I was at Cornell before this, but I had miscarried several times and I went to an excellent specialist...finally who found a myriad of issues which Cornell Weill and the best doctor over there never found. In any case I am two days away from finding out whether or not this cycle has worked. I am excited and nervous. I feel like it is working. I wonder if anyone recommends bedrest after IVF and for how long. The doctors said it was not needed, but many women who successfully conceived with IVF have told me to take 2 weeks and not do anything. I have taken one week tomorrow and I am debating the 2nd week if I am pregnant. I do not have any children yet. Any advice? I am getting a little bored, but if it works I will do whatever.

Thank you!!!!

I think it's entirely up to you. I think most people just go back to work. As long as you don't do anything to strain yourself, you should be fine. Though a couple of days getaway would be nice, just to relax.

This is my first IVF and I have a BFP! :D Am awaiting for my US next Thurs. My RE told me that 24 hrs of bedrest after ivf and resume normal activities afterwards. And not to lift anything over 25lbs. Have your DH pamper you. :D I went back to work 2 days after my ivf--it helps getting my mind off of things. I won't lie, but the 2ww is terrible! Good luck!

My doctor told me that they just recommend that you take it easy the rest of the day but after that he said you can do whatever you normally do. I just stayed on the couch the rest of the day watching tv and was back at work the next day.

Thank you for your input. Congratulations Mary and Kiki on your blessings. I started to tear up reading that you got such good results (with happiness). I am so emotional...hoping that is a good sign.

Again, thank you ....will keep you posted my first BHG is tomorrow.

Enjoy the blessings & feel good!
