a couple of questions...

Post by Michelle »

Hi Girls
I'm due to start the nasal spray tomorrow and just have a couple of questions.
1. When we spoke to our Dr. and the nurse separately they both said it was OK to continue having unprotected sex the month you are due to start taking the nasal spray on Day 21 (just in case a miracle occured) although extremely unlikely in our case. Anyway I was reading the nasal instructions last night and got a fright as they said that you should not take this medication if you are pg. I'm 99.9% sure I'm not and couldn't bear to wait another month before starting the treatment. Do any of you know about this? Help much appreciated.
2. Also, when reading this site and some of your postings it seems that most of you are taking the nasal spray/injections from Day 21 for approx 2 weeks. I have been told to take it for 3 weeks before I even go back for a scan. Do you think that sounds right?
Probably being silly and over anxious I know - but I can't help myself right now!
Thanks very very much.
Good luck to all the 2wwers.
Michelle x

Hi Michelle
If it helps, we were specifically advised not to have unprotected sex whilst on any of the drugs but then it was easier to predict because at my clinic they start you sniffing/injecting on day 1 of your cycle and not 21.
I don't think the two or three week thing makes much of a difference because all they are trying to do is get your hormone levels to a stage where they are "controlled". From what I've been told by the fert nurses, it's more common for them to ask ladies to continue sniffing/injecting for a third week when they are scanned at two so in short, the extra week won't do any harm and may save you disappointment in the long run. Know how you feel though, just want things to move as quickly as possible.
Good Luck
Terri x
