POOP!!!

Hey moms...

My son Jack is 6 weeks today. This week he has gone from pooping 1x/day to almost every diaper change?? It is runny and yellowish tan in color. Jack was 4 weeks early. I called the doctor and she said that by 6 weeks they should start to go less often and it shouldn' t be so runny. How was it with your babies? He is on formula soI thought he should go less often just because of that. And, since he was a preemie, does that mean that everything is delayed and his poop shouldn't be changing by 6 weeks? Any advice would be nice. He has serious diaper rash too!

there were so many differences with my kids, and differences from week to week..... my one went all the time (every to every other diaper) for 3 or so months, one of my other went only every 3-4 days...

also-maybe he has a little bug of some sort... i would give it a couple of days and see where he is at...

my 3 kids were all early too....and my doc did say that it may take an early baby a little more time to adjust.. they told me 8-12 weeks to get "regular" and even then my were/still are not all that much on a regular schedule..

Your sweet baby Jack has a little bug and what you describe is diarrhea. Put on the zinc oxide. If he develops little red bumps that means he has a yeast diaper rash and will need miconozole (monistat) cream. My older son had the VERY SAME THING at the VERY SAME AGE! It should pass in a couple days but stay on top of the diaper rash as you don't want bleeding.
