Reality TV Junkies! (completely off-topic)

Post by CT_Michele »

Ok, I started a thread a few months ago called the bachelor- completely off topic, and we had quite a few people join us to talk about it each week and take a break from the ivf chats. Now that the bachelor has ended, the thread slowed down but there are still a lot of reality tv fans, so I wanted to change the title and get more people to chat with us.

We can talk about any reality tv. Right now, the ones we have been discussing the most are the biggest loser, survivor, apprentice and the amazing race. I am sure as American Idol gets down to the good ones, we will discuss that a lot more too, and maybe there are some Dancing with the Stars fans out there? We also have big brother coming in the summer time, so if anyone out there watches any or all of these shows (or even other reality shows I failed to mention), please join us and give us your thoughts and opinions. We had a lot of fun on the bachelor thread each week, and hope to do the same here!

so here is my analysis from the past couple days.

I watched biggest loser last night and the homecomings were so emotional. I love family stuff on any show. I was especially moved by ron's other son (mike's brother). I really hope that whole family shows up to the finale a lot thinner. I also hop[e Aubrey can get through to her dad (500 lbs!) but it seems like she has a battle ahead of her. I was suprised that the mom sacrificed herself for aubrey last night, but thought it was such a nice thing to do. Realistically, aubrey needs to be on campus b/c she has 5 kids at home...it will be too hard for her there. I could not believe that Helen ate a cookie causing Tara to lose the $10,000, I would have been so mad if I were Tara.

Idols- I think a lot of them are very good. I though adam was very weird last night but I don't think he will go anytime soon. I actually think that Adam, Danny Gokey and Lil rounds will be in the finals. I though anoop did great last night too, maybe he will make it to final 4. Danny Gokey (the widow) is still my favorite.

Dancing- Was suprised to see belinda carlisle go before the apple guy...I think he will go next, which is too bad because he really is enjoying it, but he really is a bad dancer. Our girl Melissa from the bachelor is awesome and has a chance to win the whole thing.

Apprentice- I think they both should have been fired, and dennis rodman will go soon. His only saving grace was that this was tom's second horrible week. The guys team is dwindling fast while the girls dominate. Kudos to Melissa for bringing in the wedding designer, their shop looked awesome.

amazing race- I can't believe they ran in their underwear...and that poor girl in the thong! I kinda figured it would be a non-elimination week, just had that feeling. I kinda wished it wasn't, those blondes are not my favorite team.

Ok, no survivor this week b/c of basketball :( So not much else until next week. Tell me what you guys thought about any of the shows this week.

Michelle- Yea!!! I am so glad you changed the name of the thread. Might bring in some new thoughts and ideas. Not that ours weren't nough 8)

My silly DVR screwed up and didn't record Biggest Loser last night. UGH!!! It rarely does this, but when it does it always seems to miss my reality shows. not fair. i did see that mom went though  When is the Blue team going to get a break and win one for once?

Loved Apprentice Sunday night. I agree both Tom and Rodman should have been fired. I understand that Tom has been horrible two weeks in a row, but when exactly has Rodman been worth anything? He is about the laziest guy I have ever seen on this show.

Have not watched Race yet...will get caught up either tonight or tomorrow. And, i didn't realize there was no survivor this week. What a bummer.

How have you been feeling? Are you up and moving now?

hr- I am so glad you are still hanging on with me :D

I hate when the dvr screws up! I especially hate when the show runs late due to sporting events and the dvr misses the end...ugh, you would think the technology would be smart enough to catch that by now. It really stinks you missed biggest loser, I love the homecoming shows. Looks like next week a couple girls might be the first girls to ever lose 100lbs on campus. That is amazing!

I agree with you about rodman on the apprentice, he is pretty worthless, and I am sure he will be fired soon b/c of it. Looked like from previews the cowboy is going to get his panties all in a bunch! (I don;t like him, and he should go too)

Yeah...no survivor stinks...b/c of march madness, but atleast I live in an area where college basketball is huge...looks like UCONN might be able to win men's and women's again this year...

I am feeling much better, thanks for asking. Now I am just waiting for af to start bcp's and then I should be starting stims on 4/10. It is all coming up so fast. How are things going with you?

Hello my reality tv buddy...hope you are still around...

So I watched the apprentice...I knew the girls were gonna lose, they were so disorganized. And the boys had a fantastic idea and put on a great show. The girls definitely should have had tboz perform and no one ever even mentioned it. I really wish melissa had been fired though, just b/c I don't like her. I know she helped pull them together at the end, but she is to over opinionated when it comes to everything else...I am sure she will be fired soon.

Rodman was lucky his team won or he would have been fired, but brian mcknight should have used him more, he actually had resources to offer this time.

Biggest loser- I am glad they went to singles this week. And I felt really bad for tara that everyone is ganging up on her, I was so happy she won the challenge. She deserved it, but it stinks she was only 1 pound away from 100! I have liked tara from the start, she just seems like a real person, someone I could see myself being friends with, it was her partner I didn;t like, she seemed lazy, but is getting better now. I was so happy to see aubreys dad had lost some weight at the update, and I hope at the finale that the whole family has lost a lot together. I knew it would be hard for her to keep going with 5 kids at home, but I am glad she came to her senses and put herself first.

I don;t know if you watch dancing with the stars or not, but I can not believe the apple guy is still on, but he is so likable, just so happy about everything, but I am sure he will go soon.

So tonight we have idols, and don't forget, survivor on a special night. My brother called me a few days ago and said, "can you believe brandon got voted off this week?" I was like, "what are you talking about, survivor wasn't on this week," he replied, "yes is was, on wednesday." I started freaking out and checking to see if my dvr taped it, I was so mad, and then he said, "just checking if you were paying attention," and he started laughing. So I will be sure not to miss it tonight.

Hope your still hanging on with me...talk to you soon!

Hey Michele!
I've been keeping up with reading but slow to post - my husband and I have started watching back episodes of Lost which meant that I had to forego some of my reality TV!

The only show that I watch right now is Biggest Loser. I was extremely impressed with Tara - can you believe she came back to win over big strong Sione? She's pretty determined. And even though I was disappointed Aubrey gained weight when she got back home, I thought that it was a completely realistic depiction of what happens when you go back to real life. The ranch is such an isolated environment that when you have to go back home to 5 kids and a husband, it's easy to fall off the wagon a little bit. But I think she's doing great - and hopefully her dad starts losing weight with her.

Hope everyone is well! I'm a big fan of the Office so Thursdays are my favorite night. What would we do without cable??

Tiger- so glad to see you are still with us. I agree with you about aubrey's home environment, that is realistic and what would really happen, but i am glad she got back on track. And I like Tara, I am kinda routing for her at this point, she is strong and seems like a really down to earth person.

I read on one of the other threads that you found out you are having a girl! Congrats, little girls are just the best (but I may be a bit bias...lol) I think dh and I are hoping for another girl if we get pregnant this cycle. But we will be happy either way of course.

Ok, amazing race and apprentice tonight....I will post to you guys tomorrow

Hi Michele!

I'm excited about Biggest Loser tonight. I'm curious when Ron's reign will end - he seems to have alot of supporters at the Ranch and can really call some shots. But I keep thinking that with his knees and health, he can't keep going for too long (amazing how much weight he loses when he doesn't have as hard of workouts as the rest of the group!).

We are having a girl! Thank you so much! We're really excited. I actually just bought the bedding today (got a $250 crib set on sale for $89 at BabyGap - deal of a lifetime) and picked out the crib this past weekend. We thought we were having a boy this entire time but now I realize how GREAT little girls are to shop for - but expensive! How old is your daughteR? When are you starting a new cycle?

hope everyone has been well!

Suzanne- I agree totally about Ron. I was hoping last night he would go home. I am tired of hearing him say, "I still need to be here." At some point he will have to do it at home anyway, he will obviously not win the show. I think it is unfair to use the "I need to be here excuse," they all needed to be there, that's why they were picked for the show! I was also mad that ron and mike seemed upset with sione and felipe for voting for ron. It was just last week that ron was trying to get rid of felipe! I think it was unfair that Nicole lost her immunity b/c she gained weight. She has not been with those people, so without immunity, she did not have a good chance of staying, and she was a hug threat...but good for her for doing that all at home!

I am so glad to hear you are having a girl. They are much more fun to shop for, all of the moms I know that have boys are jealous that I get to buy such cute clothes. They are expensive though, I just got Ella a dress for easter and an upcoming wedding and of course you have to get all the matching accessories too. As long as I do not hit anymore bumps in the road, I will start stims a week from friday. I am anxious to get going already.

HR- you still with us??

Ok, talk to you guys soon.

I'm still with you guys. I feel horrible, because I watch the shows, but it is always way after the fact (usually). Also, the computer no longer sends me a message letting me know when others have posted. ugh, technology!!!!

So, I still haven't watched Biggest Loser from this week, or at least all of it. I watched just until I knew that Kim made it back on the show. I was so disappointed to read that she lost her immunity. It's always hard when those people come back because they do have an instant target on their back.
I was so excited for the update on Aubrey when she got voted off. It was so real to life. I hated that she put weight on, but it is reality. It is so easy to put weight on but hard to take it off. Her life has to completely change, which is hard with 5 kids to worry about. I do think she will be successful though.
I feel for Ron. I cannot believe that he is still there, but golly, for health reasons, he really does need to be there. He has proven that he cannot do it on his own. I would like to see him stay for a few more weeks.
I CANNOT stand Tara. maybe it's because she is such an outspoken, Loud woman. However, I think she has a chance to win the whole thing. She works so hard, and has done AWESOME!!!!!
I must say I do not like Ali as the new host. maybe it's because I'm used to Alison, but Ali just seems so uncomfortable, it's not natural.

Survivor- I did manage to watch that last night. I am really liking it...however, I don't have a favorite person. I know Coach is really getting on everyone's nerves, but I kind of like him. Guess he's the underdog. I did think it would have been perfect if they would have voted Taj off last night. She would never have seen what was coming.

Apprentice- It was about time. Rodman should have gone the first week. Now, two weeks ago, I was mad that he had his outburst, but then came back willing to help in any way. I was shocked that they turned down his money, just because it was him.
It was obvious that the men were going to lose this week past week. They just couldn't do anything right.
I also liked to a degree, the way they approached Rodman's drinking problem. I do hope he gets help, but I doubt he will.

Okay- Tiger.....a girl.....how exciting. I have so much fun buying for my daughter. It's not necessarily the toys, but the clothes are so much fun. I look at boy stuff and am so bored...hehehe, there is just not as much variety.
So, congratulations on your girl.

CT Michelle- I hope things go well so that you can cycle and get your BFP!!! Will be rooting for you:)

Well girls- I guess it is just us reality junkies...I was hoping maybe to grab a few idol fans along the way...but no takers!

I have to start with the apprentice from sunday- CRAZY! I did think they both did not do well, they kept thinking that viral video meant raunchy, and it doesn't. It just means something that everyone wants to see. I would have done a compilation of pictures with orchestra music, and the pictures would have been of funny and unbelievable messes that kids get into. So you might have seen a baby with spaghetti dumped on his head, and then a shot of the ALL...I think that could have been cute and funny while staying wholesome.

As far as who got fired...I felt so bad for t-boz(tione). That was Melissa's fault for asking for volunteers. She was nice enough to step up so mellissa wouldn't have to make that decision. And I think their team did awesome even though ALL did not like their video, and no one should have been fired from their team. And then I think it was unfair of Trump to fire Chloey for a DUI. I agree that there are no excuses for drunk driving, but she made a mistake and is accepting responsibilty for it...it had nothing to do with the task they did. Clint was a big jerk this week and needed to go.

survivor- I was praying both idols would get played (the real and fake one). I don't understand why people aren't more aware that a fake idol could be made, it has happened in the past 2 or 3 seasons, so it baffles me when people fall for it. I am excited to watch the merge next week, and I do hope the secret exile alliance works for them, I think it was a good plan.

idols- all I can say is Scott (blind guy) has to go. He is not a good singer and would not do well on the radio today. Maybe he could be a lounge singer, but not a pop star. I still love danny gokey and adam is doing great and will have a career whether he wins or not.

And biggest loser form last night- (hope I don't spoil for anyone)- I can not believe how into the strategy and gameplay they all got. I do not like Ron and hope he goes home. I think he is wrong to accuse the blue team of being liars and backstabbers when just 2 weeks ago he was campaigning for felipe to go home. Of course I hope he loses weight, but I think he needs to leave the ranch. I was sad to see sione go, but his homecoming story was awesome and he looks great. I think I am leaning towards wanting kristin to win the whole thing. I like her and her attitude, she gets it. She knows that she is there to lose weight and that she is in control of her own destiny as long as she focuses. And wow for Tara doing all those stairs! I do not think she threw the weigh in, I can't picture her doing it, she just had a slow week since she started it by eating 5000 calories of crap, that must have affected her in some way.

Whew, ok- I think I got the important ones. AFM- I start stims on friday...woohoo! I hope all of this reality tv will keep my mind occupied when it comes time for my 2ww!

Ugh!!!! What on earth happened to our crazy, busy thread? I must say that I have been so busy with school and life that I have not been as faithful at watching the reality shows. I have actually even deleted a few of my American idols without watching. that is so not like me.

I must say that my favorite show is still Biggest Loser. I could not believe that the vote was as close as it was. My gosh, Laura is hurt and has no business being there. I couldn't believe that she couldn't even walk up the stairs to get weighed. To me it was a no brainer.
I think Filipe will win this season. ya know they keep talking about how Bob has never won a finale, and so I think tht is kind of leading up to the...you never would have thought this. I think Kristin just has way too much weight to go, and Ron...well, probably enough said.
I am still not liking Tara at all, but what can I say. And Pink Mama needs to go and NOW!!! I can't stand her.

As far as amazing race...I like it, but can't say its a favorite. I don't even know their names. I think the Asian siblings will win. though, thi sseason no one has really stood out. I can't wait unitl next week. It seems like a big thing between the black girls ad Luke and his mother.

Survivor- What on earth happened last week? Why not use the idol? Everyone knew Brandon would be going. But why on earth is Coach still tere? He drives me up a tree!!!

Apprentice- WOW I am loving this one. The drama between Annie and Joan rivers is just perfect. I cannot stand Annie, though I think she has a really good shot at winning it all.

Michelle- How is the stimming going? I have my fingers crossed for you

HR- so glad to hear from you...I have wanted to post here, but thought I lost everyone!

Maybe as some of these shows get closer to their finales, some people will join us and give their opinions.

On idols, I am still a huge danny gokey fan. I think the finale will be between him and adam lambert. I am suprised they used their save last week, I don;t think they should have...disco week this week should be interesting with 2 people going home.

biggest loser- It was a no brainer- injured girl had to go. And I really like kristen, the purple girl she was up against, she seems like such a genuine person. I agree though, pink mama does have to go, and she needs to take brown papa with her!

amazing race- so much drama on that show. I am still watching it, and liking it. I still like luke and his mom, and I think any of the teams left could win it.

celebrity apprentice- what an awesome season! I also can not stand annie, seems two faced and a bit rude and bossy. I really like Jesse. I think I want him to win, but your right, annie could win, she is all about the money, and like piers pointed out this week, that is why he won, performance. I saw in the preview for next week that they are switching teams again, since one team is down to 2 members.

Stimming is done- ER tomorrow morning at 11am! It looks like I might get around 20 eggies...dh had a fresh TESE today, and we just need to pray they find enough sperm tomorrow to fertilise every egg. It looks like mt ET will be on Friday and hopefully with enough sperm, we will have some to freeze too.

I am going to need a lot of reality tv to get me through the 2ww! How is everything going with you? I am so glad you are still on this thread with me....it is so nice to chat about the shows.

Michelle- WOW!!! Your whole stimming process and everything has gone so quickly. ANd to have 20 eggs, that is really good. You will have to keep me posted on how things turn out. Is this just your second shot at IVF?
At least you have Biggest Loser, and American Idol tonight...then Survivor and American Idol on Thursday. Therefore, you have two days of reality show stuff:)
