ivf success rate for grade 1 embryos...

Post by mb1981 »

Question for all you IVF experts…if you have two grade 1 (or highest grade) embryos which I believe are 8 cell or greater with no or very little fragmentation and if both are transferred to a healthy woman under 35, what is the likelihood of pregnancy? I have read that the implantation rate per embryo (for a grade 1 embryo) is anywhere between 20-50%...seems like a huge range! These implantation rates would translate to a clinical pregnancy rate of 36% to 75%. This seems way too big of a range to me so I was hoping someone might have some insight!

Unfortunately the range really is that big. A lot depends on what medical conditions the mother has and whether there are any genetic issues, for example. A 20 year old with no fertility issues would be near the top of that range, but then, a 20 year old with no fertility issues would likely not be using IVF in the first place. I think it would take fairly severe fertility issues to be near the bottom of the range.

warren, thanks for answering. I am 27 with no reproductive problems and DH has low morphology (we are doing ICSI). DO you think I would be the top end of the range?

I'm not that familiar with morphology issues, so it's just a guess, but yes, I would guess that once you got two good embryos, your chances would be closer to the top of the range.

Your chances are probly on the high scale if there are no female factors. ICSI took out the male factor. Just focus on happy thoughts and tell yourself your BFN and it's bound to happen. Stay relaxed
