Hi,
I am a new on here and it has been great reading all the posts and very informative . I am going to pay to have IVF and go for my first consultation in January. I was wondering if i decide to egg share, When is it you make the decision? Is it before the treatment starts or once you know how many eggs you have got?
How long after your first consultation is it normally before you can have your IVF treatment.
sorry if these questions seem silly ?

Jules
Hi Jules,
i am currently on my 2 week wait for my first ICSI cycle.
We also paid privately and started our treatment as soon as the dates were right after our consultation. We were asked about egg sharing at that initial consultation and had already discussed it and agreed to say yes. Despite them having a waiting list it did take a while to find a suitable recipient.
If i had produced 6 (i think it was) or less eggs i would have been able to keep them all myself. As soon as 7 was reached they were split equally between me and the recipient, with the donor keeping the extra one if there was an odd number. I actually had 24 so we each had plenty and i was very lucky as all 12 of my half fertilised and 6 were eventually frozen.
I guess that the actual mechanics depends on the clinic, but i have to say that so far our treatment has been great.
So now i just have to wait with fingers crossed!
Feel free to ask questions, i know i always have loads!

helenxx
