Hi Nancy,
I take progesterone orally and vaginally and didn't have any shots this time around. I will continue taking it till the end of the 12th week....
I've seen though that many women here in this forum are given the green light to stop taking it around the 10th week, so I don't think your situation is unusual.
Congratulations on your pregnancy and good luck to you!

thank you so much for your feedback.
I guess each doctor has his/her preference.
I was concerned about stopping at week 10 and would have felt more comfortable continuing to receive the supplementation until week 12.

is there a reason why some people are given shots while others just suppositories? My doc have me the vaginal capsules with no shots. should I ask him about this? Im still on Lupron though so I wont need them for some time.

Thanks!!!
It's a doctor preference thing.
Some strongly prefer the shots. Others are open to suppositories and such.
I was told to stop at like 5 or 6 weeks. I went into the hospital for OHSS to get the drain put in and my levels were normal and they had me stop then. At first I kinda freaked b/c I though you need it until like week 10. But all went well and my son was born last Oct. I guess everyones different and the doc's know best. Good Luck!!

Most OHSS patients have no need for progesterone supplementation.
The reason for that is simple. The corpora lutea produce multiple hormones, among them progesterone and VEGF. Excessive production of VEGF causes OHSS. but if these glands (spent follicles) are alive and well producing VEGF, they are almost certainly producing more than enough progesterone, too.
Thats a huge relief I was freaking out at the time and they just kept telling me its fine my levels are fine. Having an explanation (even a year later) explains it and I wont sit and wonder why next time around. Knowing me I would have probably freaked out after my FET ---thinking that someing was wrong if I was comparing. Thanks for the clarification!!!

I was asked if I would like to participate in progesterone clinical trial. It compares progesterone capsules to subQ injections. I know the subQ injections are already approved outside of the US, and was wondering if anyone has any experience with subQ injections?
