ANY ONE KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN AT MY FIRST APPOINTMENT

Hi girls Been thinking about you all lots and sending loads of +++++++++vibes to you all. Just wonder if anyone has an idea as to what will happen at my first appointment have just been assesed by kings and have my first appointment on the 23rd to disscuss i.v.f have been told i will have a scan just routine have had my bloods done and dp had his sperm tested to for the assesment, but just wondered if any of you could shed some light on what this appointment might hold for me its an hour long will i get the date i can start i.v.f or am i looking at a long waiting list i am at Kings any advice would be wonderful love Angela

Hi, I only tell you what happened to me, not sure if it's the same all over. It was mostly talking - there was an element of more information gathering about our (and families') medical histories. Some counselling - checking what we knew, the risks, managing our expectations, liklihoods/stats in general etc. Time for us to ask Q about the procedure, drugs, who would be involved....also a run through of hypothetical dates 'if your next AF is n, then we would look to be....' etc (but we were self-funded in a private clinic so this will be different from the NHS). All the above was with a clinic nurse, then we saw the Head Honcho for a shorter period of time, he explained in more detail the medical procedure. Perhaps the one thing that I hadn't expected was that my scan was with the internal wand vs. the external pad scanner that you always see on TV! Hope this helps and good luck, Debra.
