I'm Mal and i'm new to this site. Thought i'll need some support from others who are also going thru the same phase as i am.
I little history about my journey into IVF. Me and my husband have been trying for a baby for the last 18 months and nothing have worked out. I've tried one cycle on Clomid and one cycle of IUI. Since age is catching up (Me 32, hubby36) our doc suggested that we move on right away into IVF (since he is not a fan of laparoscopy).
I just went for my egg retrieval yesterday and they managed to collect 10 eggs. Side effects from the sedation lasted the whole day and i'm feeling much better now.
Going in for embryo transfer on Sunday (31st of May 2009). I'm already worried about the 2-week wait. Trying to keep positive but can't seem to hold the positiveness long. Would appreciate word of comfort and support from anyone. Pls give me tips on how to stay cool and positive during the 2-week wait. Thank you ladies....
Mal:
Wow! I am going through IVF for the first time too and my egg retrieval was yesterday as well. I am 32 years old and we've been TTC for 18 months. We tried 3 months of Clomid and then 2 months with Clomid and IUI. I would love to share in this process with somebody in a similar situation! Did they tell you how many eggs were fertilized as of this morning? I had 12 eggs and only 3 fertilized, so I am feeling really worried about that. They are planning on my embryo transfer on Monday. This sure is going to be a long weekend!
I won't lie, it will be the longest 2 weeks of your life! But stay positive stay busy and try to just think of something else. If not you will drive yourself crazy. Go to the movies, spend time with your hubby and before you know it the week will be up! Good Luck!
