Hi, I am 5weeks 1 day prego and just went to the bathroom. I noticed two dark spots on my undies but didn't think too much about it (have had old stained undies before). But, when I wiped I had alot of dark brown/reddish yuck. I wouldn't call it bloody but it was twice then no more when I wiped. I have no cramping nothing else! Please tell me this is ok (normal)
Would you say it looked brownish, almost like you wiped your bottom (I know that is gross)? I had that type of old blood a lot in the early weeks of pregnancy. It really could be anything like your uterus removing some old blood, a polyp that is bleeding a bit, or an embryo that detached (if you had more than one put in)...
Talk to your doctor, but they told me that at the early stages, you and you are early right now, there is nothing they can do. Try not to worry, though its hard. I have to say, I still see blood now at 30 weeks and I barely flinch! I know I have polyps on my cervix, but it took several trips to the doctor before we learned that.
At 5 weeks and 1 day, its gonna be another 6 days before you will see the fetal pole and yolk sac. You can see them earlier, but not always. Around 6.3 weeks you can often see the heartbeat. So, hang on and be happy its not bright red. Call you doctor and see if you can get an U/S scheduled for next week! I hope all is ok!

Thank you for responding (was thinking no one was here tonight) I just spoke to the PA at my dr's office and she (after speaking with my doc) stated it is probably the little one trying to burrow more to obtain a blood supply with me. BUT... we are going in tomorrow for an U/S and labwork Just to make sure. She reminded me that they are not looking for heartbeat etc. Just gestational sack and possibly yolk sack too. She told me that if they don't see it not to worry that they will confirm again with labs. AHHH please everyone.. send the happy thoughts and baby dust!
This is my first IVF and my first bfp so I don't have too much advice to give you. But I know every little cramp I feel I freak out too, we went through alot to get pregnant so we all worry alot too, its very hard for me just to enjoy my pregnancy. I am sure everything is fine I have seen so many post regarding spotting and 99% of the time its nothing. So just try to relax until tomorrow, its still very early and spotting is very common, especially brown blood, thats a good thing. Hang in there everything will be ok!

Dear Acornmom, This could be the embryo burrowing deeper as ur doc said...I know it must've been terrifying...I have a friend who has this in all her pregnancies which she concieves naturally, but then she is put on bedrest...and advised not to do anything to increase the intraabdominal pressure...and no sex either, no straining in the bathroom etc. She has to be on the bed for the first trimester. Wish u come out of this soon.

Wow, that is great...but remember its early and I saw twins too, but as a few days went by, we found out one was not growing. They cautioned me and cautioned me not to get too excited! Did they have measurements on sac sizes...I hope they were both the same!
Did you just see the gest sacs or was there a yolk sac too? Now the waiting another week begins! LOL! I found that the waiting part NEVER ends in this process.
I am currently waiting for my next U/S in three weeks and of course wondering if the baby is kicking enough! Good luck! I hope these babies keep growing!
