Hello all
has anyone be prescribed lovenox or heparin after unexplained miscarriage?
I had 2 IVF pregnancies 2 miscarriages around 10 weeks.
I am now pregnant again and my previous doc in my previous clinic said he would give me lovenox 0.4 injections daily from the day of my positive result throughout my pregnancy.
I have changed clinic and got pregnant and my new doc said there is no point.
I dont know what to think. My GP also seems to think that lovenox is a good idea.
Ghost if you read this, do you have an opinion? do you know if it is safe when carrying multiples ( I dont know yet).

My hx is positive for 9 early miscarriages and I am currently 10 wks pregnant with twins and have been taking Lovenox since my positive prego test. All testing for thromboembolic problems have been negative, however, given my hx my OB thought it was best just to empirically treat. I do know, however, that some physicians do not believe that it is necessary to take unless you have tested positive for some thromboembolic disorder. My RE did not think that I needed to go on Lovenox, but my OB did, so I'm taking it. It will not harm your baby or babies!

all my immune/ blood came back negative, but as you said my doc believe that an empiric treatment might give me more chance to carry full term
I will insist, I have the prescription anyway but i really want my OBGYN to be on board with that.
Do you know until when you will take the treatment? How are you coping with the daily injections?

That's the one problem with Lovenox....you're on it through your entire pregnancy. Prior to delivery, they will switch you to regular Heparin as Lovenox puts one at risk of developing a spinal/epidural hematoma which can result in paralysis. So, they make sure you're on regular heparin prior to delivery. The shot isn't so bad. It's just a little sq injection...it does burn a little, but so much better than the big PIO injection.
How far along are you in your pregnancy?

I had my positive blood on 06/07/09 only 8 days past 3day transfer.
My official beta was on Friday with an HCG of 1022. Those are quiet high number that s why i am thinking multiples.
I now want to start lovenox asap, the boxes are waiting in the bathroom!
I really wont mind extra daily injection if it can help...
when is your next scan? are you excited about having twins??

Congrats on your positive hcg! Your right your number is VERY high and I'm thinking multiples for you as well....Congrats! How many days post transfer was that high #?
Yes, I'm taking the .4 of Lovenox also a baby ASA every day. My RE said we could stop the ASA once we saw a heartbeat, but my OB says to continue throughout. It's amazing how many different opinions you get out there.
I'm very excited about twins, but still worry about vanishing twin syndrome...so, I'm cautious about my excitement. Our next u/s is on the 22nd of this month. How about you? When are you finally going to see if you have multiples in there?

I did my first injection last night and I am also taking 81mg of aspirin in the morning.
Do you suffer from sickness ? are you showing yet?
