Hi all,
This is my first IVF after 3 unsuccessful IUIs. I am currently taking 350 units of Follistim and am only showing 6 follicles on day 7. I was showing 3 and 4 follicles with only 75 units of Follistim during the IUIs, so I am getting upset with the poor response.
Anyone else a slow starter? Is the number of follicles you start with basically all you get?
We are paying for this all out of pocket and I didn't know if this low number would warrant cancelling the cycle and then trying again....maybe I am jumping the gun, but can anyone offer any opinions or personal experience?
My drs. have kept my dose the same based on my bloodwork. I am to see what the ultrasound shows tomorrow and just go from there I guess.
Thanks and good luck to all!
Baby dust all around!

I believe the number of follies you start with is pretty much how it stays, but there are others on here who can answer that better than I can (I'm just completing my 1st ivf cycle). Wait and see what the u/s shows tomorrow and see what your doctor thinks. Do they have you on anything else besides the follistim? Hang in there!

Six follicles is a little low for your age, but not so low that we would cancel the stim.
Sometimes there are only so many antral follicles to recruit. More FSH does not guarantee more development.
If you cycle again, you might ask about a flare cycle. These cycles use FSH from your pituitary, so they might save you some $$$. You would also need some FSH injections (like Follistim), but you should need less than in a conventional cycle.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.
Are you looking for examples to compare? With my first IVF there were 7 from the start and 7 (6 mature) at the finish.
This last time, there were 9 that were growing and "a few others" that were small. They never said how many. On ER day they got 14 eggs! However, only the original 9 were mature.
Good luck! I was (until last cycle) someone who had a low response so I know this is frustrating.
