My husbands sperm is 31% Motility, 111 Million, and 0% Morphology. The Heads are 0% Normal, 14% Small, 1% Large, 43% Taper/Pyr, 2% round, 31% Amorph, 4% Pin, 5% Double. The Midpiece...635 Normal, 22%Abnormal, 15% Bent. The Tail...75%Normal, 4% Bent, 17% Coiled, 4% Doubled. Already have 3 test, which basically came out to the round about numbers. Took a year off, Family Doctor descided to put him on an antibiotic for infections (still waiting patiently on results, fingers crossed). Is there anyone outthere with about the same problems as us that had luck concieving naturally. Or is our luck slim to none?! Im trying to think positive, and husband seems to think negative. What am i to do?!
Sylvia....I'm not sure my husband's exact numbers. I just know that after 5 of years of trying to conceive, we went through testing and found nothing wrong with me. The doctor took one look at his sperm report and said, "Directly to IVF" she wouldn't even try artificial as she said it just looked too bleak. We did one round of IVF, with a BFN as a result. We were going to try again the next month with a FET, but miracle of miracles I got pregnant on my own!!!! And am now a mother of an almost 2 year old and pregnant (on my own) again!!!!
My dh tested with 0 Morphology as well. Based on the three years we were trying, I think that makes our chances pretty slim, but we might not be in the same situation.
We moved onto IVF this year. The good news is that using ICSI solved the whole fertilization problem, and we've had good results with our embryos. We had a bfn in our first cycle, but just finished our second cycle with a positive (but with low beta numbers, so I'm not celebrating quite yet).
Me 37 DH 41 (male factor, morphology)
3 failed IUIs
IVF #1 - 5/09 BFN
IVF #2 - 7/09 chemical
FET 10/09 chemical
IVF #3 - 1/10 chemical
Hi Sylvia,
my dh has round about normal morphology etc but a sperm count of around 600k. Nearly nothing. The recommendation from the doctor to go straight to IVF and ICSI. With ICSI the doctor said it should work.
They only need a couple of good ones and there are no added complications from your side.
You need to think positive - compared to many years ago we are in the lucky position to have options
We will have our consultation Tuesday and I will fill you in on what we do next.
