Ghost - need opinion on viability

Post by jandm »

Hi,
I am currently 14 days post 5dt. At 7 dpt I started bleeding (normal period flow, heavy the first two days and tapered off by the end of the forth day). I went in for my first beta on Monday and it was 10 (that was at 9dpt) and had my second beta on Thursday which came back at 30. I have previously had 2 miscarriages and know the signs so was very surprised to here that even though the levels are low that they are in fact doubling.

The office is not giving me any indication as to what this could mean (they are saying it could be late implantation or a chemical pregnancy) but when the second results came back they put me onthe progesterone oil injections and scheduled me for a third beta for this coming Tuesday. In the meantime I have been poas each morning since Thursday and the pregnancy lines are getting darker.

This has been a hard enough journey for myself and my DH and after starting to bleed on Saturday had basically resigned ourselves to the fact that it was a failed cycle and we are having a difficult time even thinking that this could be viable. Is there any chance that this could be a viable pregnancy? If it was a chemical pregnancy would my betas be doubling after getting AF? I'm increasingly concerned that this might be an ectopic pregnancy but they did not even mention that as a possibility - if I demand an ultrasound on Tuesday is it too soon for them to be able to see anything?

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Given the abnormal hCG profile of this pregnancy (late/low/slow rise), you have an increased chance of losing it when compared to a pregnancy with a normal profile. It's not hopeless. Once in awhile these make it to live birth, but usually not. And yes, I have studied this in detail.

Time to watch and see, but I would not pin a lot of hopes on it.

It could easily be an ectopic. They are associated with abnormal hCG curves, much like yours.

Most often, these low hCG curves just fade away on their own. Sometimes they turn into an ectopic that must be addressed (typically with methotrexate). Once in awhile they are viable pregnancies.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.
