I was just wondering when all of you got AF after your miscarriage. I had my m/c on June 25th. It has now been almost 8 weeks and no AF. RE wants to induce it, but I'd like to know why it hasn't come onits own. I did not have a D&C but I did have meds to help my m/c come since I had no bleeding, but there was no hb at my u/s. Thanks

Af came with my m/c and all I did was stop the IVF meds. AF came within 5 days and then I went right back to a 28 day cycle. Did your RE follow your hCG down to zero? I had to go several times after my m/c to have b/w so they could watch my hCG level fall. Otherwise, even though I'd had AF they would have done a D&C if it did not drop.

Hi Neffi - First let me say I'm sorry about the miscarriage, I know how hard that can be. I had the exact same thing happen. My doctor gave me meds to induce the miscarriage as well. I thought they worked, but several weeks later ended up in the emergency room, as I had only had a partial miscarriage. My hCGlevel was 3000. Shelbyrn's RE did the correct thing and followed her hCG back down to zero, my doctor did not. Thus, I would ask your RE to do a beta test and make sure your hCG is at zero.

Neffi- I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I had one back in February. My RE tracked my HCG level each week until it hit zero and then I got AF. I bled before that, after the D&C, but it wasn't a true AF, as my RE explained. I don't remember exactly how long it took, but I remember going in for many weeks for b/w to see where my HCG level was and it took forever. I hope AF visits you soon!

thanks for the responses. I did have my HCg monitored until zero...that was almost 2 weeks ago. So I called today and RE wants me to start Provera to induce AF. So I don't know what to think, RE says its normal.

I am in a similiar situation to you.

I had a miscarriage on June 8...so it has been 10 weeks and still no AF. I had a scan yesterday at the ivf clinic and I was told that it looked like I would start to bleed within the next 3-4 days as my lining was very thick and looked like it was starting to shed but that I also had a cluster ot very small follicilies on my right ovary (I have a history of PCOS)....so these follicilies are producing estrogen which may impact on me being able to have an AF.

If I don't get the AF within the next 3-4 days, then I have to take the meds to induce the AF as it is better to get rid of the old lining now. I am hoping to do an FET in November or December.

hi Neffi,

I experienced something similar on my first IVF cycle, although my doctor just had me come off the ivf meds rather than taking anything to induce AF. 3 weeks later and no bleeding, I had to go in for a D&C. It wasn't a big deal really, similar to the egg retrieval, but I would rather have just started naturally. I like to think my body was desperately trying to hold on, and maybe next time that'll work in my favor! Good luck
