Hello,

i am new to this forum, I guess I have joined at this time, because I need support and it takes me a long time to admit that.

I would say that the odds are stacked against us?
Today I learned that DH has low sperm morphology, I was 40 this year have had long tubal disease, today they also detected a uterine fibroid, so cannot go staight for IVF - but wait for HSG, more SA 's and suggested ICSI. I feel like giving up before we've even tried.
Feeling pretty low for Christmas after looking forward to straight forward IVF ( have waited over 2 years) in the UK, and now will have to pay £4,ooo for one go of ICSI.
Does anyone out there, reckon we should still try? Can sperm improve? Can fibroids go away?
please help?!
tiggerx
Hello tigger
wellcome to the site! we all now how it feels when your first told you have 'fertility problems' the good thing is that there is treatment and IT CAN WORK!! but you have to be positive and you have to belive. there are many girls on this site who have concieved with similar circumstances to yourself so take it one step at a time. Don't be frightened of the science and procedures read about the condition and ask questions if your not happy with any aspect of your treatment say so! I wish you all the best for your treatment when do you think you will start? Have a relaxing Christmas and try and look forward to 2004 just think this time next year your dreams could be answered!
take care
Aly
x

HI tigger
I'm afraid I dont know much about fibroids - but I do know people who have had successful pgs with them

My dh have v severely low (no) sperm count. We have to have ICSI - had one failed in July - but trying again in March. Just remember it only take ONE!! The morphology thing - I think can be over come by ICSI as they basically do alot of the work for teh sperm!
TAke heart - check out the pg after tmt board - I find it quite uplifting sometimes!

And I have to say I need a bit of uplifting today - after "kids in work day"....say no more!

Cazx
Hi Tigger,
I nicknamed myself Tigger after having to bounce back from so many hard knocks in life!!!
I would def say it is worth giving ICSI ago - we had 10 tmts ( 2IVF, 7ICSI and 1 FET) 6th pg but lost baby at 10 weeks and now 18wks pg! We had extra tests this time at a new clinic which showed a number of problems and we thought 'well that's it, there's too much against us'. But the consultant advised us that all the problems where treatable and thank goodness we took his advise and tried it.
If you don't at laest try you'll always wonder 'what if'.
I know this time of the year is really difficult - I always saw it as another year passed and no nearer to our dream. So just wanting to say I'm thinking of you and DH and to say be positive about 2004 - you never know what it may bring!!
Di
i think u must realy give it a go otherwise u will look back and
always wonder "would it have worked ?"
it is a very tough road with possibly no positive result at the end but when u read some of the other stories on this page it does give u hope.
im 43 and on my 4th ici's (test 2/1)we have had ici on all 4
treatments as my dp's sperm was poor, although he was taking
betta blockers at the time which said it could affect the quality,
but he stopped drinking and started taking Zinc-Ace (helps
maintain healthy immune and reproductive systems)and on the last
3 treatments his sperm has been good.
good luck in what ever u decide to do.
take care
alisonn
