Ghost, I'm thinking this could be a question for you but I'd love to hear any encouraging thoughts or stories ...
Today I am 7 weeks exactly--our third IVF attempt--and we had the ultrasound. The doctor told me I am pregnant with identical twins. One looks really small. The other has the beginnings of a fetal pole. But no heartbeat on either.
They want to check again for a heartbeat in five days. He said my chances of either surviving are 50/50. I'm beyond sad.
Is there any chance this could work out? The doctor said they could be developing more slowly--that this happens when they share the same placenta? Is that common?
Has anyone else had a heartbeat show up after 7 weeks?
Thanks so much for any insights you can give.

I think he's right to check again.
To be completely open and honest, I can't recall a case where a heartbeat was absent at 7 weeks but showed up later. But maybe monozygotics are different, and are merely slowed a bit by the split? I don't know.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.
