Question for Ghost

Post by tali »

Hi,

I am starting a Estrogen Priming Protocol this week and have a question regarding expired meds. I have 10 vials of Menopur left over from my last cycle. They expiration date is 08/09. I am going to be starting to take my shots either tomorrow or Thursday. Do I really need to discard the expired meds or can I use them since they will only be expired by a couple of days?

Thank you!

Is that the expiration date on the outside of the box or on the medication vials themselves? Often they differ, sometimes they differ a lot. I have some Menopur boxes where the meds actually expire one year later than the date on the box. The date on the box is for the water vials (on the boxes I have).

But you are probably wondering what I am wondering. They treat meds like they are perfectly good up until that date, then as if they are absolutely worthless the next day after that. I think the expiration date is arbitrarily set at 2 years after the manufacture date. They are dry powders in sealed vials, not subject to bacterial spoilage like milk is. Exactly what dramatic change occurs on the expiration date? None.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.

i was going through my meds from my last cycle and found some menopur... i was going to hold onto them for this cycle but threw them out because they were left in a box in a closet basement that was kind of warm ..i thought the warm temp might not be good for them.

Ghost, You just saved me over $1000.. Thank you so much. Went home and checked the exp date on the vials and sure enough it is 01/2010.. The liquid expired on 09/01/09, but I don't need all the liquid..

I don't have to tell you that you are very much appreciated on this forum. I have asked my RE, my nurse and my pharmacists and no one was able to give me this simple information. I was ready to throw out 3 perfectly good boxes of meds.

Thanks

Tali
