I don't have that dx, but one of my friends had to take heparin injections throughout her entire pregnancy and her and the baby were fine. He is now almost 3 years old...
Although I tested positive for antiphospholipid antibodies, there is only 1 specific group of them that actually necessitates the use of blood thinners during pregnancy & it was not the type I have. (I apologize, but I can not remember the suffix these APA's ended with.) Some doctors opt to prescribe blood thinners to anyone with any APA, regardless of which type, & some RE's simply prescribe blood thinners to all of their patients. Nevertheless I am a heterozygous carrier of Factor V Leiden, a disorder that increases the risk of blood clots. With elevated estrogen levels during pregnancy, there is already a greater risk of blood clots, so I had to take daily blood thinners from the day of my 1st positive Beta until 2 days prior to a scheduled C-Section del'y, then from 24 hrs. post del'y until my post-partum check-up. Other than some minor bruising at the injection sites, there were no side effects & my twins were full term. They did not need to spend any time in the NICU either. They went home w/me when they were 3 days old. BTW, I was on Lovenox. It is my understanding that blood thinners prescribed during pregnancy are generally a low dosage & safe. They must be safe as much as they are used during pregnancy.
