Ghost 2nd M/C any advice

Post by gi »

Ghost,

I am just going thro. my 2nd miscarriage. Had a scare last thurs and scan showed babys heart had stopped beating, i was 10wks 2 days and baby measured perfectly. They doctor thinks it may be chromosonal. This baby was from the same batch of embies as my last m/c which ended at 9 wks after 7 wk scan showed it measured 1 wk behind with slow heartbeat. We are going to change clinics as ours dont do donor - just in case thats what we need. Just wondering have you any thoughts on why this may have happened, genetic testing done last yr was clear, do you think donor eggs would be a better option? As you can see this was my 6th attempt so money is running out and would prefer to spend rest wisely.
Thanks

gi xx

I'm sorry for your loss....
When you have your d&c did your dr say that he will do some testing on the tissue?
When I had my 2nd m/c my dr was able to get some tissue from the d&c and do chromosomal testing which came back normal female. What grade were the embies that you had transferred?

Again, I'm really sorry ...

Amysbabies,Thanks for replying,
They dont test here till after you have 3 miscarriages. They didnt give the grades for embies either but said they were excellent at the time of transfer. I hope to get a consultation with new clinic in about 6 wks and i will bring my file, hopefully they will do some tests but i am seriously thinking of donor and my wonderful sister said if compatible she will be the donor.

thanks again

There are several theories regarding recurrent miscarriage. Genetic anomalies certainly can lead to losses at about that time. Some research is pursuing potential immunological causes.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.

Thanks ghost,

Was looking at the new clinics website and they do far more tests than my clinic before they consider doing ivf and one of them is for auto immune profile, i havent a clue what any of this means but if there was a prob. would that mean i couldnt carry or just would be better off with donor?

thanks again

Gi, I'm so sorry  I couldn't believe when I saw your post. If you ever need to talk or just vent give me a hollar back. It is so unfair what life dishes out sometimes, you have gone through enough. God Bless you in this time. The testing sounds like a great idea.my girlfriend has had miscarriages like yours where baby stops growing heart beat gone. The next pregnancy she will start heparin injections thinking blood flow occlusion or something like that to the placenta.Maybe worth asking RE about.I'm so sorry again, wish I could give you a hug and make the pain go away.

Gi, sorry for your loss. I cycled with you and would have been 11 wks today. I had a m/c at 8 wks (same as you .. baby measured a week behind and heartrate was low). My fertility doc gave me medicine so my body would take care of it on its own (he really didn't want to do a D & C). I thought it worked but nearly two weeks later I started having alot of pain and when I went to the my ob gyn last Monday, the yolk sac was still in place. To make a long story short, I ended up having to do a D & C last week.

By the time I was 8 wks I'd had 4 ultrasounds. I knew things didn't look good from the start. The ultrasound at 8 wks showed that the baby's heart had stopped.

They did send off what they had for genetic testing. We will see what that shows.

I cannot say I know exactly how you feel because I do have a bundle of joy at home. My son is 13 months old. But I do what it feels like to want a baby soooo badly. It took me 7 years to get pregnant with my DS.

Just hang in there and I hope that changing clinics will get you what your heart desires.

I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

Jenice, mjay and tryin#2 thanks a mil for your kind words they mean a lot.

tryin#2 i was keeping an eye out for you recently but assumed it wasnt good news, its heartbreaking isnt it, i know you have a child but it still doesnt take away the pain of losing one. I had a d&c last time and felt it was so much easier and i would be afraid of what happened to you that i wouldnt lose it all. So hopefully they will organise a d&c asap! then i can move on.....well actually as we speak i am trying to organise our next appointment, this wont break me but make me stronger (i hope!!)

Hello Gi

I am so sorry for you and your husband.

I live in Ireland too. You will see my profile below and I have had 2 miscarriage recently as well. I will be doing an FET cycle in January 2010 and will be taking extra meds this time including steroids and heparin. I got pregnant with my 2nd fresh ivf in 2005 and have a dd (aged 3) so my doctor is baffled why the FETs have failed and then 2 miscarriages after my 2 fresh ivf cycles. He has said that egg quality could be the issue now due to my age (40) but both times they transferred 2 good quality blasts so to be honest he is baffled and running out of ideas. Anyway, I am doing an FET in January with my 2 last frozen blasts from the cycle that I got pregnant with my dd.

I have sent you a pm with the details of where I am doing the ivf etc.

You are in my prayers.
