I had a successful first IVF and now have a 6 mo old (YAY!) I have three frozen embryos and because of my age (44 next month!) have to get on the fast track for baby #2.
I am exclusively breastfeeding and plan to wean (sadly) toward the end of Jan, but I have to look at the long term goal of having a sibling for our son. I have been stockpiling a frozen supply of milk which I hope will get him close to a year on BM.
In order to do an FET, my RE requires that I have two periods in a row before I call them. From what I have read, it's my understanding that it can take as short as a few months to as long as over a year and a half to get AF back.
I mentioned this to my OB at my recent appt and she suggested asking my RE about using Provera to jumpstart my period, as it impacts your progesterin levels, which are high when you breast feed, and which you need to be low to get AF back.
Is anyone familiar with this protocol? If so, can you tell me about your experience and how long it took for AF to return once you completely weaned, though I know everyone is different.
