IVF and bedrest

Post by MomOfOne »

Hi Ladies:

MY ET is tomorrow. I was curious how many of you were ordered to bedrest. I was reading quite a few articles that say it's not necessary. My calendar has two days of bedrest. Just wondering if it's really necessary or maybe counterproductive.

This is part of one of the articles I read: "In 1988, a report was published calling into question the logic of bedrest after IVF. The arguement was that since the uterus is tilted in the body, that in the upright or standing position, the uterus is almost horizontal. It made more sence, then to have an IVF patient stand rather than lie down. when this IVF group then encouraged patients to get up after an embryo transfer, their pregnancy rates actually increased"

Anyone's doctor ever recommend standing? Just curious.

Thanks and wish us luck!

My doctor actually put me on strict bedrest for three days not even a shower!! But it worked for me because I ended up with a bfp and I am currently pregnant with twins, so I am a big believer in the the bedrest. Good luck to you :D

Multiple studies have found the duration of bedrest to be irrelevant.

Follow your doctor's instructions.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.

Hi, No bed rest here and i have twin boys.
If you are going the natural route you would not know if you were pregnant so you would not do bed rest. Thats my clinics veiw. They try to keep everything as normal as possible. My transfer was at 2 days.
Every clinic is different.
Good luck

With my first cycle of IVF, I was a bridesmaid in a wedding the day after my transfer. I had to attend the rehersal dinner about 10 hours after the ET itself. I did end up PG, but it resulted in a chemical pregnancy. But the embie did stick. My RE would have prefered me rest, but approved it. Of course, I took it very easy and sat as much as possible.
My second attempt, I rested for 2 days. Just took it easy, not really bedrest, but lounging around. That is what my RE advices. That worked also. I'm now 11 weeks PG.

Thanks ladies for all the information. I actually ended up staying home for two days lounging around. So, we'll see what happens. My pregnancy test is on Dec. 22.

Good luck to everyone!

Hi there. No bed rest was ordered for me. Just no aerobics, alcohol, sex, caffeine, heavy lifting, hot tubs/soaking in bath. I did not get pregnant. I'd just take it easy if you can. It can't hurt at all! That's what I plan to do when I start round 2 in January! Best wishes to you! :D
