Hi,

We are eagerly looking for your valuable suggestions and experiences?.

I am IVF pregnant now and getting complete 4th month in first week of December. I am currently in India and planning to travel USA, where my husband works.

I am feeling healthier now; can I travel in AIR for longer hours? It takes about 16 hours AIR journey? Do you think there is any risk involved in traveling for quite long time?

As per my Doctor, during AIR travel needs to sit in a chair for longer hours is not advisable. Some times, there is a possibility of bleed if sitting for a while.

If I decide to travel, when it would be the best time to travel in AIR? - For e.g. during 4th or 5th month.

In general, is there any much risk involved if pregnant women sit for long time?

I am not working either; some one suggested in sitting for a while may not good for the pregnancy?

Do you think after 4th month of IVF pregnancy still it differs from normal pregnancy? Do you think little exercise needs for the body? As of now I am not moving even for a while.

It would be greatly helpful if you post your suggestions; it leads to take the right decision on my travel

Thnaks a lot in advance

Hi,

I flew abroad when I was in my 5th month (we had twins) and the advice I was given was for any flight longer than two hours to talk to the airline and cabin crew and mention that you need to get up and move around every hour for a couple of minutes. Get an aisle seat, preferable near the galley areas or at the back of a jumbo so you can really move around and do stretches, wear surgical stockings and drink plenty of fluids (that will definately keep you moving back and forth to the little ladies room)I took a huge bottle of water and my own cushion as it did get uncomfortable but all was fine for us. They do treat it as a normal pg so just check with you own clinic or GP.

As for the exercise, even a 10 minute walk every day is a huge help. Even when I was getting very big and waddling about, my doctors said to keep up the walking. I started by being able to walk quite far in my first few months but by the time I was 6 months I could barely make it to the end of the street in 10 minutes. Every little bit helps and they say the more fit you are the easier the birth.

Good Luck with your new life in America, I think I remember your husband saying you were moving to San Fransisco..if so Lucky you, it is the most beautiful place.

Nicky

Nicky,

Thank you very much in saying your real travel experience, it definitely helps a lot in my travel. My Doctor also suggested finally, after 24 weeks pg would be preferable time to travel if needs. So I plan my travel in the month of mid January 03, if every thing goes well. According to my Dr, IVF pg differs from normal pg, reason could be, it difficulty to predict IVF pg until 8th month completion.

My next scan scheduled on 9th December, by the time I complete 18th week.

Thanks a lot once again, I am still looking for others response, it definitely adds the more value

Roja
