Ghost & Everyone: Fibroids & pregnancy

I just had my first attempt at IVF in Aug and it was successful with twins. Unfortunately my water broke the day after thanksgiving and one twin died. the following week i went into labor and delivered both twins. although the 2nd twin was alive when born, he was too premature.

during the pregnancy the docs noticed that i had a fibroid that grew huge! apparently 6 inches. the week before my water broke, the fibroid began causing lots of pain. once the water broke the pain decreased and after delivery the pain went away completely. now the docs want me to see a fertility specialist to have my fibroids looked at. the one the caused the pain is not inside my uterus, it's on a stalk and it moves around my abdomen. apparently there are other fibroids that attached to my uterus, which the RE, my regular gyne, and i knew were there before we started IVF.

my docs said the fibroids did not cause the premature labor or my water to break. so why are they a problem now? why did my RE proceed with IVF if they needed attention? is there hope for my fertility if i have to have the ones by my uterus removed? does anyone have experience with this? thanks for reading.

I've never studied that, but I've been puzzled why they say one fibroid is okay and another is not. There must be some rule for that, but I have never seen it.

I don't know anything about fibriods, but I wanted to say how sorry I am about your loss. You have been through a very emotional ordeal and wishing you the best possible recovery. Good luck in your future treatment plan.

thanks for your kind words. i am curious about your IVF journey. why did you have all eggs frozen for each IVF cycle? i have 6 frosties and am considering using them now, but i am so creeped out at using frozen embryos. did you feel the same? i am so glad to hear that you and others have had success with this method, that gives me hope as well.

I have PCOS and the protocol my RE uses is a freeze all with a lupron trigger (rather than HCG) so I don't get OHSS. The lupron causes issues with the lining so we do a freeze all and then a FET cycle and that focuses only on the lining. I have gotten a BFP with each FET I have done with this protocol. There is nothing creepy about using frosties at all. As you can see in my signature, I transferred ONE FROSTIE in November and I am PG with TWINS now....my one embie split into identical twins- 2 different sacs. CRAZY and TERRIFIED.
