Hi, just had a question regarding what anyone does with all the needles and sharp containers ? I've done multiple cycles and have now about 3 containers filled. Do I call my local sanitation for disposal of them ? Can anyone let me know how much they were charged ?

Our patients can just return them to the clinic so we can dispose of them.

Hi jenice -

I've always dropped them off at my RE's office. Did yours not offer to take them? Might be something they forgot, and with how much we spend there, disposing of your sharps shouldnt be a big deal to them.

Thanks GHOST and everyone else for replying. My clinic has never said anything @ all. Next time I go I'll bring them with me. I can't believe I have filled up 3 containers already, and I wonder why my bum still feels sore

My clinic said to just tape the containers up, write SHARPS on the side of it and dispose of it with regular trash.

My RE office didn't say anything to me either but they are two hours away from me so wouldnt be worth the trip anyhow. I called our local sanitation dept. and my town has a hazardous waste facility that I can take them to for no charge if I show proof that I am a local resident.

Check with your local pharmacy or healthcare clinic most take them. You can not put them in the trash it is agaist the law and could get you a huge fine.
