Beta Numbers

Post by SylviaZ »

I had my egg retrieval on 2/2 and my transfer was 2/5. Transfered 2 good embies. My first beta was on 2/17 and it came back at a 159. Doctor said it was a good number, but still alittle nervous. I still keep wondering if it really is a good one. Would like some light on this subject....Bady dust to everyone!

If I counted correctly, you are 14 days past ER. At this point anything over 100 is good. Congrats!!!

It's a good idea to keep hopes realistic. About 30% of pregnancies fail. But your hCG level suggests you will not be one of those.

Ok, so heres an update. I was wrong on my first beta, it was actually a 179 not 159..oops! I had my 2nd beta on Friday and it came back a 746. Which she said was a reaally good sign. But in the midst of all of this, i started bleeding?! I had told her but it doesnt seem like they are to worried about this. But me on the other hand...is completely freaking out and worried about this. Not to mention, ive been obsessing about it all weekend. Should i be worried about this?! HELP! Ghost?!

Relax. Bleeding is common in IVF pregnancies, even those that make it to live birth.

Report everything promptly to your clinic.

Sylvia,

You really need to make sure your doctor knows that you are bleeding and ask if there is anything you can do. I had my second miscarraige after my second FET and my BETA numbers were always very high so the nurse kept telling me not to worry. I knew something was wrong and I wish someone would have listened to me. Maybe nothing could have been done but maybe (we had the tissue tested and all came back normal so it makes me wonder). Maybe they can check your progesterone level?

I completely understand where you are coming from and am sorry for the stress you are going through. Remember that the doctors work for YOU. I just had my 3rd FET and I know I am high on their radar and get my calls answered fast and results as well. Just let them know to see if they can do something.

Hey! Thanks for the fast response, its greatly appreciated! UGH!! Ive called my dr today and he just said that im his first appt tomorrow. And that he feels reassuring that my numbers look good...2/17~179, 2/19~746. So i dont know what to think anymore, and im coming completely outta my skin. And all i get is, just continue bedrest and pushing your fluids....

Ok, so i had my U/S today. I think everything seems pretty good and im gonna take it and run with it. He did see a sac but he said it was still to early to really tell, and that i should just continue bedrest. I go back next week for another U/S...which he said i would definately be able to see more. So im am pregnant, thank god...but its still pretty crucial at this time.

Hey there... Try to stay positive... It is possible that perhaps both of your embryos took intially and then one of them didn't make it causing the bleeding. I know this is a crazy roller-coaster of emotions, but stay strong.

Sylvia,

I am so glad things seem to be going well for you. Relax and stay positive...keep us updated on your next u/s visit. I am 9days past 5 day transfer and got a positive result on a home pregnancy test this morning so I am excited to see my beta tomorrow.

Good luck to all of us!!!
