Hello,
I am just completing my 3rd cycle of clomid and I awaiting to see if I am pregnant. If I am not, then I plan on starting
in vitro asap. I have spoken to 2 doctors and one said to wait a month before starting protocol and the other said that I could start immediately.
What is the norm out there in this case? Wait or don't wait?
In my experience ( 3 clomid cycles, 3 IUI cycles, 3 IVF and 2 frozen cycles) my doctors have usually liked to wait a month before starting anything new. I think its a chance for your body, and brain, to relax and get back to a normal state before you start on what can be a highly stressful process. Even though Clomid cycles aren't invasive, the mental stress is still high. I'll say that the cycles where I've been relaxed have been the most successful, my first IVF cycle I was pretty relaxed, surprisingly, and I got a BFP, although I miscarried at 8 weeks. And this last IVF cycle I just felt it was going to work, didnt stress about it, and I'm currently at 5 weeks pregnant! Still a long way to go, but I think the relaxed, positive mental attitude, and a 5 month break between cycles probably helped. Its only a month, I'd just take a break, think about something else, enjoy yourself and forget the entire thing for a few weeks, then come back to IVF fresh and happy! Good luck!
