Can i lift my 25 pound son after my transfer. I can avoid it for about 48 hours but after that I need to pick him up!

I have a young child too. He's three and about 34 pounds. I don't have to lift him that much, but I do occassionally. I lifted him a few days after transfer and I'm pregnant and just saw the heartbeat! So, do what you have to do!!!

I have a 26 pounder and avoided lifting him about 24 hrs after transfer. After that, I lifted him when he needed it. I had my first beta today it was a BFP.

My doctor told me not to lift anything over 5 pds (I'm thinkin' "my purse weighs more than that!") so I tried to avoid carrying laundry baskets downstairs, carrying groceries in, etc. But sometimes i think it's overkill because pregnant women used to work in fields and strap toddlers to their backs. I think everything in moderation and if you feel crampy at all I'd lay down... that's what my sis-in-law did and she ended up preg with triplets!

I think a lot of the concern for lifting comes from the fact that during a fresh transfer, your ovaries are very swollen and they don't want you to do anything to twist or cut off blood supply to your ovaries as that can be extremely dangerous, which is not similar to a normal pregnancy. At least, that is how it was explained to me … also; I think there is still so much of a debate surrounding post-transfers. For example, bed rest vs. no bed rest, etc.

i think you're right... the lifting 5 lbs or exercising has to do with ovaries weighing a lot and twisting. Which can be painful and if they don't untwist on their own they have to be surgically removed. Yikes! So lets all take it easy.
