Hello All...I've been prescribed Follistim...150 per day, but before with my previous Dr. I was given Menopur and Bravelle combined. Can someone please tell me what their IVF med protocol is...I know everyone is different but I don't feel very comfortable with my new Dr.
Also before I was taking 300 per day is anyone else taking that much. Any help would be appreciated!!
Yes, I was on Follistim for my first fresh IVF and this current cycle. During my first cycle, I was on 225 for the entire cycle and this cycle, I started out at 300 for 5 days and then I wasn’t responding well so my RE increased my dose to 375. So don’t worry, your new RE is just trying to get use to you and how your body will react to the Follistim and he or she can adjust it according to your u/s and estradiol levels. Sometimes, it is better to be safe than sorry to prevent over stimulating your ovaries. I know by being on this website that there are several ladies on all different dosages. Trust me, I understand how you feel! I panicked when I didn’t respond as well as I did the first time for this cycle. But, it all worked out so far … I just went through ER this morning!
Are you on Lupron also? I am just curious. I also answered your question on the March/April forum!
But, welcome to our little family … hopefully, you will stay and chat w/ us.
Thank Angela for replying. No I'm not on Lupron...actually the only thing I'm taking is Follistim then Novarel. It really like a trial cycle for me...I'm not doing IVF, I'm only taking the meds because I have high FSH and I don't produce a lot of eggs naturally...so I'll take the meds and then just try naturally. I hope it works! Best of luck to you as well...I've been on this roller-coaster about the same about of time as you. I was pregnant then lost the baby at 6mths...I was so depressed, I thought I'd never try again. But here I am right back at it a year later!!
Follistim is actually one of the best drugs you can have to stimulate your folicles imo and what I have read. I had it for my donor cycle and loved it. They had me taking Follistim and Repronex. When it came time for me to do my own cycle, I couldn't afford it so I took 275 of Repronex only. It worked just the same way. My donor cycle was a lot different than my own cycle. The Dr's were both different and had different protocals. In the end, I had the same amount of eggs as I did with my donor cycle, so even though they were so different the outcome was the same. I understand you aren't going through IVF, however I am sure Follistim will work great for you. I had the pen and it was so easy to use. I only wish I could have afforded it for my cycle! My DH sticking me in the toosh twice a day was no fun. Good luck!!!
