I am starting my first ivf cycle this month- started stims Wed- 225 iu puregon. I have been on injectibles before GONAl f UT NEVER experienced this sensation like a uti is coming on? I read on line that it could be a side effect of the meds.
Has anyone ever experienced this? I am taking cranberry pills and drinking lots of water to try and stave it off. I dont want my ivf cancelled due to antibiotics if needed!

Sassygurl - I don’t know exactly what your symptoms are but if you think it is a UTI, you have to tell your RE because starting off w/ an infection can be harmful to the embryo/baby and your outcome. You know they sell the over the counter UTI test kits now at pharmacies. I guess it depends where you live, if it is available in your area.
But, I have experienced a significant increase in urination since I started stimming and it only got worse after I started the progesterone suppositories. There is a theory that you might have an increase in urination because of the uterus growing thicker for implantation and pushing on the bladder.
thank you Angela. I suspected that that might be the case because not all the classic signs are there. I just have a full bladder and then feel discomfort fron fullness but then it is fine.
I called my clinic and they know what is going on. Going to make sure that i do the best i can with cranberry juice just in case it is a uti/bladder infection.
I am so glad to hear I'm not the only one... I even bugged my PCP twice and saw a urologist because I could've sworn it was a uti. Then it dawned on me that syptoms started just after I began my Gonal F and now mysteriously after use they have disappeared. I have a history of uti and kidney stones so I know what it feels like. I think if your urine tests come back normal, get thru the stims and you may find the symptoms subside. Weird, huh? But it makes me feel like I wasn't going crazy to hear you are having these symptoms too.
