Ghost/others: "Light/Normal" Activity RIGHT After ET--okay?

Post by hopeagain2008 »

Hi everyone,

I'm supposed to have an ET in a few days--depending on how things go. My RE says it is fine to have light to near normal activity 2 hrs after the ET, including driving, traveling on the plane that evening and being up on my feet most of the day. They seem to be allowing more activity than most REs do after an ET, as many are on bedrest from what I hear. So I am wondering if this "normal activity" (minus heavy lifting, exercise) just hours after the ET will jeopardize my already somewhat slim chances. Has anyone done normal activity right afterwards and did you get a BFP or BFN? I'm especially interested in hearing any positive stories with this much activity.

Thanks and the best to everyone out there.

hope - There has been a lot of research suggesting that bed rest does absolutely nothing. However, REs still recommend it because they figure it can't hurt. My RE recommends 5 days of light activity following a 3dt, and 3 days after a 5dt. I stayed off my feel a lot, but on day 4 DH and I went to the movies, lunch, etc. I picked up my kids from preschool the day of ET, as well as two days later. I had friends and family in town who were great at helping, but as the hostess, I was also up a lot. I didn't pick up my kids during that time (though I did afterwards), but I would say I was definitely not on bed rest! I did skip a trip to Disney though :D Anyway, I am now pg with twins, so apparently I didn't do too much!

Pretty much everyone says don't do anything you will regret later. Most likely YOU won't do anything to cause a BFN, just make sure you don't give yourself a chance to second guess.

babyluv--thanks for your response! It's so great to hear of your success, even though you were quite busy with life. It sounds like you were pretty active driving to pick up your kids on the day of ET but then took it easy for the rest of the first 3 days when you could. It's hard to do IVF, but keep a balance in life--nice you could do that.

More importantly, a big congrats on your twins!!! How fabulous. Best to you. Grow, grow, grow!!

yeah.....i've had all confusing advice too.....some say just take it totally easy for three days, just try to be in bed. but isn't that kinda irritating, and likely to cause more stress? my doc said except for lifting heavy stuff, i can do just about ANYTHING>
though, to be on the safer side, im just lying low, and DH is being a real darling with the cooking and other house work :)
