Morning bumps

Had a semi relaxing week off, I have striped the spare (nursery) room, and made my shopping lists - decided on Winnie the pooh, not over kill, just the beding, border, curtians, lamshade, mobile, and pictures. ok ok maybe a little overkill.

21 weeks today and the backache has set in, hoping the two twin aunties (Jules/Nicky) can give backache advice!!!!!

Having a scan on Monday and we will get them sex'd, fingers crossed.

Have 9 weeks left at work, although I don't plan on being here for that time, I just get so tired, swollen and my knees give in with the weight.

It may sound like I'm moaning, I have to say I am starting to enjoy being pregnant and maybe after Monday I will relax a little.

How are you all coping with the heat??

Hope you are blooming??

Beck!!!!! How are you doing?????

Love Mags
Hi Mags,
Like the W the P atmosphere! I am only 7.5 weeks with one, so am way behind you in more ways than one, but I have been doing quite a lot of research into back problems, as I have suffered from back problems in the past and am really worried about it happening in pregnancy. If you have a look on the internet there are sites with exercises that you're supposed to to. Apparently, your GP and physio's can't do too much for you, apart from recommend exercises, but they or your midwife can get you a support belt thing to take the strain off your back a bit. Also, if you see a chiropracter or osteopath regularly, they should be able to help release the pain. If you do find any good tips, please let me know as I would be most interested!
Hope this helps,Love Sally x

Hi Mags

Good to hear you sounding so chipper after your week off! Hardly relaxing by the sounds of it - all that decorating. Exciting though, isn't it!!

I must be super lucky as I get my big scan on Friday when I'll be 19 wks and 3 days and you get yours on Monday. I must say at the moment I feel really well and am not suffering any of the heavy pregnancy side affects. I have noticed over the last week or so that I'm definitely getting bigger more quickly so I'm sure it won't be long before I join on the elephant front! I feel incredibly lucky that I'm not having to work at the moment and I'm sure that helps in how well I'm feeling! Will you ask the doctor to sign you off before the 9 weeks are up??

Anyway, glad to hear you sounding so well. The heat has been wonderful but I have to admit I can't sit in it for hours like I used to be able to - 20 mins is about my limit!!

I hope you have some luck on the back front. I'm expecting problems myself as I tend to suffer from lower back pain quite easily but so far, so good. The joys of pregnancy! Fab isn't it!!

LOL Helen xx

Hi - Have just got back from seeing the counsellor, who was lovely and reassuring, and said that lots of people post-IVF feel really down at first - combination of disbelief at result and overload of hormones, and in my case she said it was prob also a resurgence of old fears re pregnancy and birth. I do feel tons better now and can't believe how down I was at such miraculous news - I do feel really guilty at how I felt, but am blaming the hormones and my own hang ups, and am just glad I'm fine now! So she's recommended that if I can't face a vaginal delivery, that I can be adamant about asking for a caesarian (which I feel much happier about) and said that she can do some hypnosis on me to calm the fears of pregnancy. So all very positive really. I have also been having a bit of a twingy back today(twinges and feeling that 'all is not right')so I have read that seeing someone like a chiropracter or osteopath can help if it gets too bad. So to help ward things off I have booked myself in with my local chiropracter next week.

I think it is due ligaments and things, and the hormone relaxin which softens everything up, and peaks at 10 weeks - the bad news is that this makes your joints move more, and you're therefore more liable to strains and pulls, which I think is why mine is a bit twingy today, as when I leant over this morning, felt a definite twinge.

Sincerely hope that any back pain we get now will stop, as 7 months of progressively worse back pain sounds a bit poo to me - not the Winnie type either! Tracey - how's your voldemort bug - are you feeling better now?

Tracey - Bet you were like a walking, talking pessary yourself with all that progesterone! Get the wristbands! Without mine I start feeling sick in about 2 hours, but with them on there's virtually no sickness - unless I smell something vile like the cat's food! I'd rather wear long sleeved shirts in work and leave the windows open than vomit over my keyboard anyday! Or try pressing on the acupressure point, which works - inside your wrist, 3 finger widths down from the crease where your wrist meets your arm, the acupressure point is on the middle tendon. If you bend your wrist back you'll see the tendon and just measure 3 finger widths down. Press there firmly and the nausea will go.

Think we'll have to adapt posture re backs and start some strenghtening exercises - I'm going to see a chirpracter tomorrow for a bit of an MOT so will report back on any useful strategies!

Mags - can't wait to find out what sex they are!!

Helen - thanks for the post - glad to hear your scan went well on Friday - you'll have to call them Phil and Grant!

I can't believe how many twins there are around at the moment - must be something in the water!!!
