Bleeding scare - but everything's okay

Post by alison p »

Dear all,

I've had a bit of a bad weekend. I had a bit of blood (old and brown - sorry to be so graffic) on Thursday and Friday, so I called the Lister and the hospital. The midwife told me that unless it was fresh blood and I had painful stomach cramps, don't worry too much (easier said than done!). The earliest appointment I could get at my local hospital's Early Pregancy Assessment Clinic was this morning! 5 days wait!

Anyway, I went this morning and everything was fine. The baby's 5cm now and so we saw it's arms and legs (2 of each!) and it also did a huge leap at one point! It's amazing how much it's grown since my last scan at 8.5 weeks.

Although everyone was reassuring us that it would be okay, it was still a long weekend and I couldn't help worrying.

I'm a bit more relaxed now - until our nuchal scan on the 9th!! Does the worrying ever stop? I know that bleeding is quite common, but it doesn't stop you worrying.

Alison xx

Hi Alison
So glad about your good news, although you've probably got a few extra grey hairs now with all the worrying. Well I'm coming up to 33 weeks and still worrying....it gets easier but you never quite relax and I'm now getting through a hair dye about once every 5 weeks to keep my grey under control ;0).
Every week, test, scan is another milestone and funnily enough the time really does whizz by.
Good Luck
LOL
Terri
xxxx

Hi Alison,
God i've only just read your message. You poor thing, that must have been a nightmare 5 day wait. How are you feeling now? I've been off here for ages, i just can't face doing anything in the evenings as i'm still very ill, headachey and tired. I'm also really busy at work which doesn't help my sickness. i'm hoping the sickness will begin to fade soon, now one else seems to mention it, is it only me thats unlucky? We had our 12 week scan today and it was fab. The baby danced about and i feel so excited now - i just want it to hurry up and come! Anyway i hope your feeling better now and get in touch any time!
Love Adey
