Hi Caz, TJ and other 2WW'ers

I'm currently 14 weeks with twins - yippeeeeeeeee!!!!

During my 2WW I was advised to carry on as normal (within reason, no heavy lifting or overdoing it, no baths or jigging around). and I pretty much did, went back to work after 2 days resting (felt I ought to let them settle for 2 days), carried on with the housework and everything else that helped to pass the time. I didn't have any symptoms during the 2WW no sore boobs, no cramps no nothing (different than previous 2WW's where I'd had cramps and sore boobs etc, but they each time is different) and here I am.

My clinic told me that it doesn't matter what you do whether you take 2 weeks off work to rest, work every day or whatever, if it's going to work, it will work regardless.

I did start taking Pregnacare multi vits a week before FET but doubt that had anything to do with it. It just reassured me that all the right things were in my body if there were any babies in there.

Just go with the flow girls and do what you feel like doing (without going mad that is) and if it was meant to be, it will be.

Easy to say for me now that I'm pregnant I know! I was a right nervous wreck during the 2WW and the first 12 weeks in fact! Am starting to chill a bit now though and enjoy things a bit more.

Good luck to you allllllllllll

Love Sarah x

Thank you Caz for your thread...It's funny, isn't it? how all of us feel the same.. I have just had a negative result after my first attempt at ICSI.... I will not be starting again until about September time but I have already printed this thread and I will keep it safe for reference until September.

It feels so strange to be writing in this side. Thank you to all of you mummies to be for sharing your tips with us... I did not know about the baths.. I had one every single day during my 2ww.. In the mornings when I put my pessarie, I could feel it coming down, at night it wasn't so bad because I was in bed. I also did not know about the water...why is that good? I know that drinking water is generally good for you, but what further advantages does it have during the 2ww?. Also aspirins... how do they help? I am on folic acid now and I am trying to take it religiously every day.. Tracey, can you recommend any multi vits? or do I just buy vit e / c and zinc. Thanks to Sarah's tip I will also take pregnacare before ET.. I know that nobody can assure us that it will work.. but I will do anything for peace of mind.

Last time, I was assured by the doctors that as long as I took it easy there was nothing I could do to make them implant.. they said I could lead my life as normal... so stupidly I did... I of course did not exercised or did anything bad.. but I did go shopping for 2 hours after the implants - I had not found this site at that stage so I had nobody to compare notes with..... I felt so so well and I was so positive.

I am trying not to get paranoid about next time.. but I have already decided that as I have the ET at the Bridge Centre in London and I leave near Gatwick airport..I will stay overnight in London.. after my next ET I will not move from the Doctor's chair for at least one hour..and then I will go by cab to the hotel.. and do nothing but lie on the bed and order room service . certainly no baths for me.. It's so difficult not to become IVF mad.... I am so hard trying to keep a balance.

Caz..I am sending you all my positives.. keep us posted with your news.. I will keep my fingers crossed for you... and thanks again for such a useful thread.. PMA all the way.
Love
Ursula
xx

Hi

I'm still very new to this side (4 and half weeks preg)but wanted to add that I still had baths during the 2ww, but made sure they weren't too hot.

I was never told to avoid them (and I hate showers).

Also, this was my 4th time and I have tried loads of different things during the last 3 and it didn't make any difference.

The only notable thing different this time was that I took a whole week off work. ET was on a Saturday and I stayed at home the following week. I didn't really do anything until the Thursday when I did some gentle gardening.

I also took folic acid (but I've been taking that for about 2 years) but didn't take anything else special.

I think the problem is that success is such a lottery. You will find that some people do certian things and other people do the opposite. Just do what you feel comfortable with.

Good luck
love Caroline

Reading through the threads, it seems that you've just got to do what feels right for you, and that there's no definite answer, although that's very annoyingI know! My first attempt - I didn't take aspirin, had baths, drank 1 litre milk and 2 litres water per day and stayed in bed for a week after et. It failed. This time, I did loads of positive affirmations, acupuncture, took aspirin from day 1 of injections until hpt (Urs - apparently it increases blood flow to the uterus), went back to work 2 days after et, had an extra amp of Menogon on injections, drank 2 litres water but had no baths and tried to be more relaxed as I'd gone through it before, DH also stopped smoking and drinking and took Vit C, Selenium ACE, Zinc and Magnesium. And this time it worked. So you just don't know. My consultant said that a lot of it is to do with sperm quality on the day and egg quality through the cycle - and nature at the end of the day - so I think that you can become a bit bogged down with what to do and what not to do - after all, if there was one thing then clinics would have a definite protocol of do's and dont's. It's very easy to think 'oh I did this so it didn't work', but at the end of the day it's up to that fickle mistress - Nature! Ursula - my clinic made me get up and leave after 5 minutes, so I lay down on the back seat of the car all the way home then went to bed!

Wishing you lots of love and luck for positive results,
love Sally xx

Hi Caz,

I took the 2ww off work but that was for my own piece of mind. I would suggest that you do what you think is best and whatever the outcome you did what you thought was best for you. My job can get quite stressful so I didn't want to have something to blame it on if it failed, that way, I knew that I did everything in my power to try to get a positive result.

I also took 75mg asprin daily, drank 1 litre of milk daily, took my pregnancy multi vitimins and drank about 3 litres of water a day too.

Best of luck.

Maggie.
