implantation and other questions

Hi all,
I transferred one excellent quality embryo last Sunday (5days ago). It was already hatching. When can I expect to see a positice hpt if this one was successful? This is our fourth single embryo transfer........needless to say I am frustrated and losing hope. This is a case of unexplained secondary infertility. I have a 4 year old who was delivered via C Section I had had endo and adhesions, but have had two surgeries (one two years ago and one in March after the first three failed attempts).

I June's fresh cycele I only had one blast to transfer.....I am not producing a large number of eggs here. They only retrieved 13 last August and this time only 11. Is that a bad sign? This is a very reputable clinic, but I am not getting definitive answers as to why I am not getting pregnant.

Any and all insights are welcome.

While it's always nicer to produce large numbers of eggs, the quality of the ones you are producing is more important. Perhaps you might want to discuss a different protocal with your next cycle. But for now, yay for getting one hatching blast - that's great news! That means it would have implanted almost right away. You are now 10 dpo, and for me, I usually get positive tests by then, although light. You can test today if you can handle a bfn not meaning much at this point. I wish you all the luck and hey, I'd give anything to be a couple years younger at this point!

Don't lose hope, keep your chin up and remember that you are not alone. Plus, keep in mind all those hormones they are pumping into us are adding to our emotional burden. Congrats on your daughter by the way!

Did the clinic seem disappointed in the results? I see all of the women posting on here with 20+ eggs, whereas at my clinic, I got 16 last time and then this cycle they dialed down my stim meds. I asked how may they aim for, and they said 8-10. I'm 38 (also secondary infertiliy - sucks doesn't it?), so maybe they aim for a little higher with younger folks, but my guess is that they are concerned about OHSS and don't want to overstim people. So, ask your clinic how many follicles they aim for and how many they get from people your age.

And by the way - the nurse at my last retrieval was pregnant with twins. They retrieved 6 eggs from her. So, quality matters, too, and a hatching blast sounds pretty good to me. Good luck! I hope we both get the 2nd babies we're looking for - and soon!

Amandago – I agree with the ladies that the quantity isn’t the major concern but the quality of your eggs is the most important aspect.

Here is a chart following embryo transfers and when a HPT should be positive. I wish you all the luck in the world. I know how frustrating it can be trying to conceive. Please let us know your HPT results.

7dpt.. Morula is completely implanted in the lining and has placenta cells &

8dpt...Placenta cells begin to secret HCG in the blood

Oh, I am so sorry to hear that you got another negative. I think you are right, maybe a second opinion would be helpful.

Hi! I also had a Day 5 Hatchingembryon transferred and the result has been negative. The doctor said there is no explanation why I didn´t get pregnant, I just didn´t.
We now have to decide whether to do a fresh cycle again or use 2 frozen Day 5 embryons we have. I think you had a frozen cycle, how did it go?
