Why I hate hormones (and the Twilight Saga!)

Post by kizmet »

OK, I realise we usually have more serious conversations, here, but I thought I'd share this more light-hearted post because it's really bugging me today!

Decided I am annoyed with Twilight saga this week...for a completely stupid reason, and you're going to love this. As I'm sure the whole world knows, the main character's name is Isabella (or bella) and this is the really dumb part, since I was a kid, I ALWAYS wanted to call a baby girl Isabella....Bella for short because it is an old family name....now there is no way on earth I can do that is there????????????????? Told you it was stupid! (and can I point out here, how much I hate hormones, really, really hate them!). So, Ok, if I can't use Isabella, my next choice, was Alice, my grandmother's name. Nope, can't use that either cos that's a Twilight name too (and I'm just assuming that every pregnant teenage twilight fan is going to use MY names). Even Esme, the only other consistently used female name in my family, is a twilight name. So now I feel like I'm about to get pregnant with a nameless baby girl because clearly there are no other name options in the world for a girl. At least if it is a boy, it has a chance (Edward and Jacob were never in the running for us, though I do like Jasper).

I hate HORMONES and now I hate Twilight!

So who else has some completely ridiculous hormone related issues they can share with me, just to make me feel better? :D

Ok...this just made me laught SO hard! Although I am not currently on hormones (which I AM kind of bummed about) and I am a total Twilight fan...I can feel your pain! Isabella (Bella for short) has been my #1 girl name for....well FOREVER!!! And now, it just won't work. Especially because everyone who knows me knows I love Twilight, so they will forever assume that my daughter was named after Twilight.

I also laughed like crazy when I read your story. I got bad news - a BFN on my first cycle of IVF and I was down in the dumps. I'm happy to say that your post made me laugh out loud and finally pulled me out of the funk that I have been in all day. Thanks!

Rypell - I'm glad I'm not the only one sucked into the whole thing! I'd managed to resist even watching the twilight movies up til a couple of weeks ago - now I've seen them all, read all the books and now feel like my life is over because there's no way I could call a baby girl Isabella. Very, very dramatic this whole hormonal disaster!

Luckycharm - sorry to hear about your BFN - your day will come soon enough. Heck, I'm only about to start on my second cycle (FET planned 9 August) and here I am in an absolute flap over what I'm going to call my yet to be even really conceived baby IF it's a girl! DH has been teasing me for three days that I'll just have to combine some names (like Renesmee) so I can pretend I'm just like Bella (though hopefully I'm not going to have some half human, half vampire baby that nearly kills me - though DH seems to think there's a fair chance any child of mine will be bloodsucking).

Oh, the drama, the drama.

Kiz your post cracked me up so much I had to read it to DH. Even he saw the tragedy in it. 3 baby names zapped from one movie! ARGH!!!!!!!!!! I have read the books maybe 5 times each. Yes...I'm a bit addicted. They are very easy reads for when I'm bored and don't want to start anything too heavy. If you liked them you would LOVE the Southern Vampire Series by Charlaine Harris. There is a tv (HBO adult tv) spin off called True Blood here in the states. HOT!!!!! For those of you who follow...I call dibs on Eric! ;)
I agree with every pregnant teen calling their baby a Twilight name...I wonder how many Reneseme's there will be????

You are so funny! I use to love the name Isabella too. Then a friend of mine gave it to her daughter 6 years ago. So....it's been off of my name list. I'm sure that you will find the perfect name for your bundle of joy...girl or boy!

Good luck!

this happened to me and DH..but with friends and the name Emma! ever since me and DH started talking about having kids one day we both fell in love with the name Emma if it was a girl (we never told anyone and kept this a secret for years and years) then ross and rachel have a baby on friends and name her Emma!!! i was soooooooo mad!!! so of course my friends started having babies, and of course someone used OUR name!! now we know 3 different emma's just within the people we know so there is NO way we can ever use that name!
we are now hoping for a boy so we can come up with a new name!
hahaha yes i do realize i sound nuts...but i'm on hormones too!
