C-T Michelle This is a great article, I have been with my clinic for 1/2 my Md is the best, first, for the frozen embryo he did not charge me to freeze my embies for the cycle. Second for this second cycle he manage to get me about 1700 dollards medications free and also reduce the price of the cycle in half topping that, he made me pay a fair down payement and the rest i will making a affordable payements for 8 months, I could not ask more. I still don't know how to thank him does matter the outcome of this cycle I am greatfull to have him and his staff, I pray god everyday to bless him because he has a good heart. I feel like they are a family to me now if I have any concern he will call me personally even after hours and listen to me.

I found the comments to be more of an interesting read than the article. I particularly love that guy Ian (with kids) who pompously states that people with children contribute more to society, then derides people with fertility problems for trying to have them! Especially since the point of the article seemed more to be that it should be more reasonably priced in this country so that people stand a chance of being able to afford it without insurance. How despicable to classify people with fertility problems as second-class citizens then try to deny them the opportunity to join the "elite." I wonder what he would say if some day his 26-year-old daughter discovered she could only have children through IVF, like I did?

I find it funny that they used Dr. Silber in this article. He doesn't even take insurance. If you have insurance coverage, you have to pay the Dr. upfront and then battle it out with the insurance companies to get your $$ back. He might be a really good Dr. but for me I figured dealing with IVF was stressful enough, having to also deal with trying to get your $$ back from the insurance companies, might just drive me over the edge. :D Prices of IVF do need to drop. Seeing that when IVF cycles have gone through my insurance, the Dr only gets around $7,500 whereas if you didn't have insurance the Dr. would get 10,000 or more. My last IVF cycle was billed through the insurance and the Dr. will only be getting $4,500.

some of the comment just piss me off. It is so easy for people to comment when they haven't been in our shoes. Im sure some of these people are those that pop out kids right and left. Other comments are just from people that have not clue about IVF. Kind of like my cousins wife that said "Oh I don't see why it doesn't work, you take the egg and fertilize it, put it back and you should have a baby." Boy wish it was that easy, I would have about 14 kids by now.

As a general rule, you get what you pay for. When that clinic publishes their success rates on SART, we can see if the price is really a bargain.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.

I went back and read some of the comments, and yes, there are a lot of insensitive, ignorant jerky-jerks out there. Many people can not understand what we go through, including my own mother! I am about to possibly get a job that will provide me more insurance coverage and of course my mom thinks I should wait to try again. My husband and I have been paying infertility loans and credit cards payments that amount to over $500 a month for the last year for our last 2 failed tries. I understand an employer might not be happy if I get pregnant, but that is life. I can take the same maternity leave that is given to everyone else. I am a teacher, and teaching jobs are not secure. What if I do wait and get a pink slip in the spring. I would be soooo mad at myself for not using the coverage while I had it.

Ghost- I usually agree with the whole "you get what you pay for argument." But not sure it applies across the board here. My clinic is very expensive, and yes I get more personal attention and what I think is better care, but I don't think their results are any higher than most other places. At $15,000 per ICSI cycle and $5000 per FET, you would think maybe the results would be better. Because I am now out of pocket and my RE really loves us, he is willing to discount our next fresh ICSI cycle to $9,000, but I still think that is higher than a lot of other places, and more importantly, higher than we can afford. Our next try will hinge on when and if we can get more coverage.
