May I suggest writing your senators and representatives regarding this topic and ask that they support legislation mandating insurance coverage for infertility. I did.

When writing to your representative, you have to refer them to The Family Building Act HR 697 (Anthony Weiner D-NY). When writing to your senator, you have to refer them to The Family Building Act S 1258 (Kirsten Gillibrand D-NY).

Thank you for posting this article. I think that the more of us "normal" women who just want a family are willing and able to have an open dialogue about infertility, the more people will understand that it's not just the crackpots on the evening news (Octomom, etc.) who are undergoing fertility treatment. Yes, it's very difficult and people are bound to make insensitive comments - but they are even more likely to accidentally say hurtful things if they have no idea that we are even going through this. That said, I am so thankful for the support I have found here. I can and have talked about our infertility with my family and friends, but none of them have been there; it's not the same. THANKS!
